An official earlier told The Kashmiriyat that on Thursday evening a gunfight began when militants fired upon a party of joing forces 44 RR of the Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF who had launched a joint launched cordon and search operation in the Tukrwangam area. An official told The Kashmiriyat that on Thursday evening 44 RR of the Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF launched a joint launched a cordon and search operation in the Shopian area. During the cordon, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight, he said Two to three militants are believed to be trapped. Jammu and Kashmir reported 17 fresh Covid-19 cases while there was no death due to the virus in the last 24 hours, officials said on Thursday. They said two of the fresh cases were reported from Jammu Division and 15 from Kashmir Valley, taking the overall tally to 453737. Pulwama Police yesterday received information from the residents of Lelhar village of Kakapora Pulwama that some locals detected an idol which was believed to be “three-headed goddess Vishnu, on this a Police team from Police Station Kakapora rushed towards the spot and taken the old idol into possession. After that Pulwama Police informed the archeological team about the same and after completing all legal formalities, Pulwama Police handed it over to the Archaeological Survey department of India, who will start research about its whereabouts and source. The source of this idol is not known yet. Latest reports suggest that efforts are still on to dig and excavate more such idols which can be old.

At least nine persons died and four others sustained injuries after a vehicle they were travelling in fell into a 300-ft gorge at Tararawali Bufliaz area of Surankote Poonch on Thursday.
