Militant funding: Court grants NIA more time for probe, extends custody of Khurram, two others

A Delhi court on Thursday allowed the NIA more time to complete its investigation in a case of militant funding in Jammu Kashmir against human rights activist Khurram Parvez and two others. Special NIA judge Praveen Singh also extended the custody of Parvez, Muneer Ahmad Kataria and Arshid Ahmad Tonch by 50 days, saying chances of tampering with evidence cannot be ruled out. "I find that as investigation is in progress, the chances of tampering with evidence cannot be ruled out," the judge said. He added that it was a "fit case where further extension for the period of investigation as demanded should be granted". ED raids 11 locations in J&K in fake gun license scam

Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials carried out raids at 11 places in Jammu Kashmir (J&K) in connection with the fake gun licences scam in which Rs 2.78 lakh were issued to non-entitled persons. The ED carried out raids till Thursday evening. 4 killed, 3 injured in Udhampur accident

At least four persons including two children were killed while three others were injured in a road accident that took place in Udhampur district on Thursday evening. Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that an accident took place when an Ecco vehicle plunged into a deep gorge at Kella area of Ramnagar in Udhampur. The injured were rescued and rushed to the hospital where four persons were declared as brought dead while three others and undergoing treatment.
