Police seized the equipment and other devices of an alleged NGO ‘Vision Spring’ that was seen conducting eye-care tests on people after collecting their identity cards. The alleged NGO is from outside Kashmir and had erected a tent at Taxi Stand-2 in the heart of Srinagar city. The people part of the alleged NGO ‘Vision Spring’ claimed that they offer eye screening, primary eye-care services to people free of cost. The alleged NGO was demanding identity cards, particularly Adhar Cards from the people willing to go for eye screening. Mehran Bhat As the elections in four states concluded the fuel prices have soared across India, with petrol prices crossing the 100 rupee mark in New Delhi. On Tuesday, India registered the seventh hike in fuel prices in eight days. The petrol prices were hiked by 80 Paise per litre taking the total hike in the past eight days to Rs 4.80. On March 21, the petrol prices in Srinagar stood at 100.36 and on 29 March, the petrol prices have climbed to ₹105.24 a litre. Diesel in Srinagar is being sold at ₹88.60 a litre causing anguish among the transporters who are already planning a strike on March 30 to press for various demands.

Police on Thursday said that they have arrested a fake Magician who posed as a beggar, from north Kashmir's Budgam district, officials said. Police spokesperson as per a statement said that a fake magician who posed as a beggar and had looted cash and gold from a residential house in Ichgam area of District Budgam was arrested from Putlibagh Budgam. The spokesperson further said that, on Friday, a written complaint was recieved from Abdul Rashid Bhat Son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat Resident of Ichgam Budgam complaining therein that a person posing as magician/beggar came his house and requested for a cup of tea in lieu of showing some magic tricks. Former Minister and former legislator from Kupwara, Ghulam Qadir Mir has passed away on the night intervening night of Monday and Tuesday at his residence in Friends Enclave Srinagar. Family sources while confirming the demise of Mir, said that his body is being taken to Lone Harie village of Kupwara where he will be laid to rest. They said that Namaz-e-Jinazah (Funeral Prayers) of the deceased will be held today at 5:30 PM at their ancestral graveyard in Lone Harria village. (KNS)

Srinagar International Airport authorities have marked March 28 as the busiest day in the airport's history as a record number of 90 flights were operated in a single day. An airport official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), for the first time in the history of Srinagar airport, 90 flights with 15014 passengers on board were recorded on March 28. “We handled 45 arriving flights with 7824 passengers and 45 departing flights with 7190 passengers on March 28. A total of 90 flights with 15014 passengers makes it the busiest day in our history,” said an official of the Srinagar airport, adding that this was just the beginning of the summer schedule. Danishwar Hameed A trooper of the Indian Army was injured after his service rifle accidentally went off in south Kashmir on Tuesday morning. An official told The Kashmiriyat that a trooper posted with 34 RR of Indian Army station at Behbagh Kulgam was injured when he was cleaning his rifle and it accidentally went off in the Behbagh camp. Identified as Vishnu, the trooper was immediately rushed to Army's 92 base hospital for treatment, they said.
