150 people booked in UP for offering Namaz on road outside mosque

The Uttar Pradesh Police has booked 150 people in Agra for offering Nimaaz on the road in front of a mosque. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had issued an order banning religious programs after Hindu organizations protested against namaaz on roads. A case has been registered under the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act and under the Indian Penal Code for violating Section 144, the police said. According to the FIR, Irfan Salim, a resident of Gadhaiya Hakiman, was granted permission to offer Tarawih Namaz at Imli Wali Masjid from 8 pm to 10 pm between April 2 and April 9. National Investigation Agency (NIA) Chief Kuldeep Singh on Saturday visited the encounter site at Jammu's Sunjwan, where security forces killed two Jaish-e-Muhammad fidayeen on April 22, and two days ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Jammu’s Samba. Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that the NIA chief was accompanied by the Inspector General of CRPF, and Jammu was briefed about the gun battle by CRPF officers. The University Grants Commission (UGC) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) have asked Indian students not to pursue higher education in Pakistan. In a joint notification issued on Friday the UGC and AICTE said that students pursuing higher education in Pakistan shall not be eligible for employment or further studies in India. "All concerned are advised not to travel to Pakistan for pursuing higher education. The Central Board of School education has removed two poems by Faiz Ahmed Faiz from its curriculum. CBSE students for more than a decade read these translated excerpts from two poems in Urdu by Faiz Ahmed Faiz in the “Religion, Communalism and Politics — Communalism, Secular State” section of NCERT’s Class 10 textbook “Democratic Politics II”. The verses have been excluded from CBSE’s 2022-23 academic curriculum, which was released on Thursday, Indian Express reported. One of the poems (Aaj Bazar mai pa ba Jalaun Chalo) was written in 1959 when he (Faiz) was imprisoned under Ayub Khan’s martial law. 6 residential houses damaged in midnight blaze in Srinagar

At least six residential houses were damaged in a fire incident in a congested Namchabal area of Srinagar. Official sources told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the fire erupted midnight at around 12:00 a.m, apparently due to short-circuit in one of the houses. Soon, fire spread and engulfed five other houses in the vicinity. The fire was controlled with the help of fire tenders, locals and police, they said. They added that six residential houses belonging to Mohd Rafiq Mir and Owais Ahmad Mir, Mohammed Ashraf Mir, Jalal-ud-din Dar, Mohd Rafiq Tramboo, Parveena Bano and Waseem Ahmad Dar were damaged in the fire incident. Suspected militants on Friday evening opened fire on two non-local labourers in the Nowgam area of Srinagar. An official said that two labourers were fired upon by militants in the Nowgam area of Srinagar, injuring them critically. The duo have been shifted to the hospital for treatment.
