Several locals of Maloora area of Parimpora, Srinagar on Sunday blocked Srinagar-Bandipora highway and protested against the Power Development Department (PDD) over shortage of electricity to their area. Reports reaching news agency Kashmir Dot Com said that around two dozen locals gathered at Maloora and blocked the Srinagar-Bandipora highway while raising slogans against the PDD. A PDD lineman working with Power Development Department (PDD) died due to electric shock in Hafroo area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Sunday, officials said. They said that the lineman identified as Mohammad Ashraf Mir, a resident of Badapora Nagam Charshrief received electric shock while repairing Transfer in the Haproo area. Soon after receiving electric shock Ashraf Mir was immediately shifted to a local hospital, however, doctors declared him brought dead on arrival. Fifteen signatures of Iridium satellite phones, used by the US-led allied forces in Afghanistan, and Wi-Fi-enabled thermal imagery devices that help a militant to escape security cordons especially during night have been found in the militancy-hit Kashmir valley, officials here said on Sunday. They said some of the signatures of Iridium satellite phones have been found in cyber space since February. It started from North Kashmir and now there have been some spots in parts of South Kashmir as well, they said.
