Amid forecast for mainly dry weather over Jammu and Kashmir in the next 24 hours, night temperature recorded an increase barring the winter capital and Bhaderwah on Sunday. A meteorological department official here told GNS that Srinagar recorded a low of 9.9°C against 8.9°C on the previous night. The temperature, he said, was 1.7°C above normal during this time of the year for the summer capital. Qazigund recorded a low of 7.4°C against 6.8°C on the previous night. The Israeli forces have entered the Al Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem, just two days after intense clashes with Palestinians which left over 150 people injured. Israeli Forces cleared Palestinians out of the sprawling esplanade outside the mosque itself early on Sunday, while dozens of worshippers remained inside the building. "We are committed to facilitating freedom of worship for Jews and Muslims," The police said. The site is the third holiest in Islam and the holiest for Jews, who refer to it as the Temple Mount. It has long been a flashpoint for Israeli-Palestinian violence. Tensions have soared in Palestine in the recent weeks amid a series of attacks in Israel and deadly Israeli military raids across the occupied West Bank.

Militants gave the slip to a joint team of police and army during a gun battle in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, officials said on Sunday. An Army soldier was killed in the initial phase of the encounter at Watnar Kokernag area of district on Saturday afternoon. According to officials, a joint team of Police and army had launched a cordon and search operation in the area following inputs about the presence of militants. A 16-year-old girl died on Saturday after she fell from her residential house at Noorbagh area of Srinagar. Nine girls, mostly teenagers from an Islamic seminary have memorized the holy Quran in less than a year. These girls who study at the Jamia Syeda Hafsa Darul Aloom hail from Kashmir's Bandipora, Kupwara, Pulwama and Srinagar districts.
