South Kashmir youth goes missing in Jammu

A Youth from South Kashmir has gone missing in Jammu. The youth hails from Gudwali Larnoo village of Kokarnag Anantnag and was working as a ‘Cleaner’ at a garage in Talab Tillo area of Jammu. The brother-in-law of the missing youth told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that Wahid Ahmed Khan was working at Talab Tiloo Jammu in a garage. “He spent the whole winter in Jammu. A week ago we called him on this phone that was switched off. Subsequently, his boss informed us that Wahid left for home a week ago after taking Rs 500 from him,” he said. He said Wahid is untraceable for the past one week. “We have lodged a missing report at the concerned police station and appeal general public to help us in locating him,” the brother-in-law of the missing youth said. Major mosques throughout the valley remained shut for Friday prayers due to the lockdown imposed to prevent the spread of the Covid 19 pandemic. The pandemic lockdowns also confined people to their houses for the last two years. On Friday (08 April), Kashmiris were seen flocking to the mosques from up north to down South, while Duroods and Quran reverberated from the mosque pulpit after two years. Three persons including a woman were killed in a road accident that took place at Garani area of Udhampur district. A joint team Police Station Sogam, along with 28 RR and 162 Bn CRPF has apprehended one OGW from Gudmacher area of Lolab Kupwara, Police said. The Police in a statement identified the arrested Owais Ahmad Khan, son of Gh Mohd Khan, a resident of Khancheck Tekipora Lolab. During preliminary investigation, he was found to be in contact with a Pakistani based militant handler, who had motivated him to join militant ranks. Some incriminating material has also been seized from the arrested person, Police said. Further investigation in the case has been taken up and more arrests in this network cannot be ruled out .
