A 78-year-old woman from Uttarakhand's Dehradun transferred all her property worth 50 lakhs and 10 Tola gold to Rahul Gandhi, stating that the country needs him. Pushpa Munjial has presented a will in the Dehradun court, giving the ownership title of her properties to Rahul Gandhi. She described Rahul Gandhi and his ideas as necessary for the country. She said she is very much influenced by the thoughts of Rahul Gandhi and that is why she is giving her property to him.

Non-local commits ‘suicide’ in Sonamarg

A non-local committed suicide by hanging himself in Shutkadi area of Sonamarg in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Tuesday. Police sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that a non-local whose identity is being ascertained allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself to death at Sheep Husbandry hut at Shutkadi area of Sonamarg. A police team along with Tehsildar Gund reached the spot. Tehsildar Gund Javaid Iqbal said that forensic experts have been called in to know about the cause of the death. (KNT)

Centre considering removal of AFSPA from some parts of Jammu Kashmir: Report

The Modi-led government is considering the removal of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 from some districts in Jammu Kashmir. Quoting sources India today reported that PM Narendra Modi may make an announcement regarding this during his visit scheduled later this month. Areas in J&K were brought under the AFSPA in September 1990 through a notification issued by the then state government, declaring the Kashmir valley a 'disturbed area' under Section 3 of the law. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Jammu and Kashmir later this month, his first trip to the union territory since the abrogation of Article 370, quoting a senior BJP functionary PTI reported. He will address a conference of local body representatives in Samba on National Panchayati Raj Day on April 24, Jammu and Kashmir BJP General Secretary (Organisation) Ashok Kaul said while addressing a function of Kashmiri Pandits here. Kaul said efforts are being made for a meeting between the prime minister and representatives of the Kashmiri Pandit community so that they can raise their concerns with him.
