Body of a mentally unsound person was found at Sangla Nallah in Surankote here on Monday, little over 12 hours after he had gone missing from his residence, official sources said. A police official told GNS that body of the person, Alam Din (60) son of Bagh Ali, of Fazalabad was spotted by some passersby and according police was informed. The petrol prices were hiked by 40 Paise per litre taking the total hike in the past twelve days to Rs 8,40 per litre. On April 04, the petrol prices in Anantnag stood at ₹107.95 a litre and the diesel prices have climbed to ₹91.35 a litre. In Srinagar, the petrol prices after Monday's hike is being sold at ₹108.97 per litre and the price of diesel has gone upto ₹92.17. The hike has caused anguish among the general public.

At least seven houseboats were gutted in a massive fire incident in Nigeen Lake in Srinagar. An official told The Kashmiriyat that on Monday morning, a massive flame erupted from a house which spread to the nearby houseboats immediately, causing damage to them too. He said that fire tenders were soon rushed to the spot and they tried to douse off the flames. "The fire erupted around 2:12 AM and damaged seven houseboats at the Nigeen club. We have received no reports of injuries so far," the official said, adding that the fire had been brought under control.
