An 18-year-old student was hospitalized in critical conditions after grievously hurt by a group of boys in Haihama area of frontier north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday last. Local sources told GNS that a group of boys started arguing with a student while the latter was on way home from school. The altercation went ugly as the opposite group dealt several blows to the student. The government on Friday removed a female teacher from the service after her unauthorized absence. The teacher in question is Heena Ramzan, who had been posted at Boys Middle School Meemandar Shopian. On the recommendations of Chief Education Officer, Shopian, the Designated Committee reviewed the ‘unauthorized absence case’ of the said teacher and summarily ordered her removal from the government service. At least five residential houses were gutted in a fire mishap here at Jamia Qadeem locality of Sopore in north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Friday evening.
