Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday claimed to have trapped and arrested an Assistant Engineer of Rural Development Department (RDD) Block Pahalgam, Anantnag for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 5000 for processing the bills of Rs 98,776. 33 families turn homeless in Srinagar’s massive blaze

At least 33 families were rendered homeless after their residential houses got reduced to ashes in a fire incident at Noorbagh area of Srinagar on Thursday. Official sources told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that 20 structures including 10 single-storey, nine double –storey and one three-story houses got damaged in the blaze that broke in the intervening night of Wednesday-Thursday at Gata Colony at Noorbagh area. Police on Friday claimed to have busted a militant module by arresting three militants associates linked with the proscribed militant outfit JeM in Pulwama. Missing since January, 20-year-old Militant from Shopian town killed in Turkwangam Encounter

Meer Irfan Amid an internet shutdown, one militant has been killed in the encounter in the Turkwangam area of Shopian district in south Kashmir on Friday. As per officials, the encounter raged when militants opened fire upon forces in the Shopian area during a cordon and search operation conducted jointly by, CRPF, Police, and 44 RR of the Indian Army late on Thursday. "The operation has been called off and the dead body recovered from the site on the encounter," an official told The Kashmiriyat. He said that the slain has been identified as Muneeb Ahmed Sheikh, a resident of Shopian's Tak Mohalla. New school timings in Kashmir from today

The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) Friday ordered new school timings regarding government and private schools from 1st April this year. According to an official communiqué issued here by DSEK, the new timing for schools falling in areas within the Srinagar municipal limits shall be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., while the timing will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for schools falling outside such limits in Kashmir Valley. “All concerned institutions shall strictly adhere to the timing order and any deviation in this regard shall be dealt with seriously," communiqué added.

One unidentified militant killed in Shopian encounter, Internet snapped

Meer Irfan One unidentified militant has been killed during the encounter that raged in the Turkwangam area of south Kashmir's Shopian district. An official said that during the joint operation conducted by forces including 44 RR of the Indian Army, CRPF, and Jammu Kashmir Police, one militant was killed. "The identity of the militant has not been confirmed as of yet," he said, adding, that the operation was still going on. Meanwhile, internet services have been snapped in the Zainapora belt of Shopian.
