Prime Minister Narendra Modi and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Monday agreed to launch an EU-India trade and technology council to address the challenges of ensuring trusted technology and security in the wake of rapid geopolitical changes. The decision was taken during talks between Modi and von der Leyen. Muslim cleric from Iraq seeks to criminalize Israel ties

Iraqi Shia cleric Muqtada al-Sadr said he plans to float a proposal to parliament to criminalize the normalization of relations with Israel. “One of the main reasons that prompted me to have the Sadrist movement run in elections again was the issue of normalization and Israeli ambitions to dominate our beloved Iraq,” al-Sadr said in a Twitter post. He said his movement and allies will soon unveil a proposal to be put for vote in parliament to criminalise normalisation and dealings with Israel. Iraq’s Penal Code punishes with death anyone who promotes “Zionist principles” or becomes a member in any institution that promotes its idea. Family members of a 40-year-old pregnant woman, who allegedly died at sub-district hospital Kupwara during treatment, held a protest demonstration alleging that she died due to negligence on part of hospital authorities. The Supreme Court of India is likely to hear pleas challenging the decision to abrogate Article 370 and 35A after the summer holidays that are scheduled from May 23 to July 11. On Monday, senior advocate Shekhar Naphde mentioned the matter before a bench headed by Chief Justice NV Ramana stating that it was an urgent matter as delimitation is to be conducted in Jammu Kashmir. The Chief Justice of India responded, “It’s a five-judge bench matter. I will have to ask the other judges as some retirements are also due to take place.” On August 05, 2019, the Indian Government unilaterally abrogated the special status of Jammu Kashmir demoting the state into two union territories. A meteorological department official here told GNS that Srinagar received traces of rain overnight till 0830 hours today even as it recorded a low of 12.2°C against 7.6°C on the previous night. Safoora Hilal Czrar-i-Shareef, a Sufi Khanqah and a mosque situated in the town of the same name in Budgam district, is one of the oldest Khanqahs of the Kashmir valley dedicated to the Kashmiri Sufi Saint Sheikh Noor u Din Noorani, popular as  'Alamdar e Kasmir' or 'Sheikh ul Alam' or 'Nund Reshi.'
