Danishwar Hameed Protesters Tuesday blocked the highway in Batwara Srinagar, hours after the killing of a migrant Government teacher posted in a Government school in Kulgam's Gopalpora area. Rajni, a female teacher was shot by gunmen, a few meters away from her school when she was on the way to her school. The 36-year-old was shifted to the Damhal hospital, however, she was declared brought dead on her arrival at the medical facility. Immediately after the killing, Kashmiri Pandits staged protests in Anantnag's Mattan and Vessu areas. Protests also erupted in Batwara area of Srinagar district. The Jammu Kashmir Police booked a man on Tuesday for allegedly hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus in Ramban district. Police sources said that a man identified as Basharat Wani was booked for hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus. “In a written complaint submitted at the Kastigarh police post, the complainant Rajeshwar alleged that one Basharat Wani has made blasphemous comments on Lord Shiva and Shivlings on social media platforms with the intention to hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus.” “After ascertaining the facts, the accused was booked under the relevant sections of the law,” sources said. Veteran politician Bhim Singh passes away at 80

Professor Bhim Singh, the chief of Jammu and Kashmir's National Panthers Party, died on Tuesday. He was 80. Prof Bhim Singh was born in 1941 in the Ramnagar area of the erstwhile princely state of J&K. In 1982, he founded the National Panthers Party with his wife Jaya Mala and was the chairman of the party till 2012. Bhim Singh was brought dead at the hospital around 8:45 am on Tuesday morning and was not well for the past several months. Prof Bhim Singh has been a member of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and was also an MP once. Trooper hangs himself in Srinagar

A trooper ended his life by hanging himself in Srinagar. Police sources said that a CRPF man of 1st Wing was found hanging in the room. He was immediately shifted to BSF Hospital Humhama where doctors declared him brought dead. The deceased has been identified as Head Constable Gulshan Rai. A Police official told The Kashmiriyat that a woman identified as Ranjini bala wife of Raj Kumar, who is a resident of Samba and was presently staying in Chawalgam has been shot at in Gopalpora, where she was currently posted as a teacher. Rajini was shifted to the nearby hospital in a critical condition, where she succumbed to her injuries.
