Calling the rumours of surrendering of Ration cards baseless, officials Monday said that there was no order to surrender ration cards anywhere in Jammu Kashmir. Pertinently, several media organizations carried a piece of news claiming that people in Jammu Kashmir have been asked to submit their ration cards and other details to the concerned Department. Speaking to The Kashmiriyat,  Assistant Director Consumers Affairs and Public Distribution said that the rumors are baseless and people should not give out their ration card details to anyone claiming to be from our Department. "Nowhere in Jammu Kashmir has any order been issued by the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department," he said. One dead, one critically wounded in road accident in Pandrass area

Rayees Shah A truck driver died while another person suffered injuries during a road accident at Pandrass area of Drass. An official told The Kashmiriyat that a Truck bearing registration number JK03 2702 was on its way from Kargil to Ganderbal when it fell down into a deep gorge near Pandrass area. The locals along with the Police reached the spot and rescued the duo and rushed them to the nearby hospital where the driver of the vehicle succumbed to his injuries. The deceased driver has been identified as Ghulam Hassan Ganie son of Ghulam Qadir Ganie, a resident of Barwalla in Ganderbal's Kangan.

The Jammu Kashmir administration is set to reopen the cases of militant-activities in the Valley involving former militants, separatists etc in which evidence can be gathered. Two local JeM militants were killed in a gunfight that broke out between militants and government forces at Gundipora village of Pingelan area in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday. Two Local militants have trapped in an encounter between militants and Government forces at the Gundipora area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district. Earlier official sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Sunday afternoon, a joint group of 55 RR  and Jammu Kashmir Police after receiving inputs about militant presence in the area launched a cordon and search operation. The hiding militants opened fire on the troopers during the cordon, triggering an encounter. Militants leave pistol, two grenades before fleeing in Qazigund

Police and Army claimed to have recovered a pistol and two grenades allegedly left by militants following some gunshots at Sandran Nallah area of Qazigund area of South Kashmir on Sunday. A top police officer told GNS that following specific information police and army were launching a cordon and search in the area. Subsequently, the officer said, joint team fired few rounds following which militants fled from the area leaving behind pistol and two grenades.
