CBI conducts raid at RTO office in Srinagar

The anti-corruption branch of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Srinagar on Friday carried out raid in the office of Regional Transport Office—Srinagar. Official sources told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the raid is being conducted following complaints of wrongdoings by the officials of RTO Kashmir in registration of fresh and re-registration of different types off vehicles from outside state. He said incriminating documents and other related documents were seized by the CBI teams. Sources further confirmed the nexus between touts and officials involved in this large scale fraud going on from last many years, they said, adding that many arrests are expected in the coming days. JK stands at 3rd last position of disproportionate pupil-teacher ratio at Primary, Upper Primary levels: Official figures

Among all States and Union Territories of India, Jammu Kashmir is standing on the 7th and 3rd last position for having the disproportionate Pupil Teacher Ratio (PTR) at Primary and Upper Primary Level respectively. Besides, the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir is also ranked at 8th last position for having the disproportionate PTR. However, at Senior Secondary Level, Jammu and Kashmir is at the thirteenth position for having a better PTR. The Punjab Police on Friday arrested the spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga a month after he was booked in Mohali for criminal intimidation and making provocative, false, and communal inflammatory statements. The Senior police superintendent (Mohali) Vivek Sheel Soni, as quoted by media reports, said Bagga was arrested from his home in New Delhi’s Janakpur. “We are bringing him to Mohali and producing him in court.” He added Bagga was served five notices to join the investigation, but he deliberately ignored them. The Punjab and Haryana high court last month directed the Punjab Police to give prior notice if they want Bagga to join the probe. Three militants have been killed in the encounter in the Sirchand forest area of Batkoot in the Pahalgam area of south Kashmir's Anantnag district. The Jammu Kashmir Police said they raided three locations in Jammu and seized some "incriminating material" in connection with the "separatist Hurriyat Conference case." The Senior Superintendent of Police Chandan Kohli said the police teams conducted the raids at Sunjuwan and Dal Patian Mohalla regarding a 2007 case. “During the raid, some incriminating material was also recovered,” said the officer.

40 year old man found dead under mysterious circumstances in Sopore

Shabir Khan A 40-years old man was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his home in the Dangerpora area of Sopore in north Kashmir's Baramulla district. Locals told The Kashmiriyat Manzoor Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Nabi Dar was found unconscious at his home last midnight after which he was rushed to SDH Sopore where the doctors declared him dead on arrival. 5,629 dog bite cases reported in one hospital of Kashmir in last one year

A whopping 5,629 bite victims, mostly of dog bites, were reported to the Anti-Rabies Clinic at Srinagar’s Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) hospital in the last one year. The presence of dogs on every nook and corner has led to man-dog confrontation due to which the number of cases of dog bites has increased in the region, doctors say. An official from ARC SMHS told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that from 1st April 2021 to 31st March 2022, as many as 5,629 bite cases were reported to ARC SMHS and most of them were from Srinagar.
