Kupwara youth qualifies IFS exams with 69th rank

Iqbal Rasool Dar, who is currently serving as an ICAS officer in the Ministry of Finance has achieved another milestone by qualifying prestigious IFS examination. While talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Iqbal, who got 69th rank in the examination, said that he is not sure about joining the IFS and he needs to consult his seniors and family members to take a final call. Active Covid cases rise to 1 Lakh in India

India logged 18,000 new coronavirus infections in a single day after a gap of 130 days, taking the COVID-19 tally to 4,34,52,164, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday. The active cases crossed the one lakh mark again after 122 days. A total of 18,819 new Covid cases were reported in a span of 24 hours while the death toll climbed to 5,25,116 with 39 new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated. The active cases increased to 1,04,555 comprising 0.24 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.55 percent, the ministry said. Amarnath Yatra begins as first batch of 2,750 pilgrims leaves for cave shrine

Amid unprecedented security arrangements, the first batch of pilgrims left for holy cave from Nunwan base camp in Pahalgam area of Anantnag district on Thursday. Sikh girl found dead in Srinagar

A Sikh girl from South Kashmir’s Pulwama district was found dead at her present Srinagar residence on Thursday. Police sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that prima facie it seems a suicide case. A case has been registered and investigation set into motion. 91 % people in J&K visit government hospitals for treatment: Survey

Srinagar: Ninety-one percent people in Jammu and Kashmir visit government health facilities for treatment whenever they get ill while only 7.4 percent people visit private hospitals for treatment, the National Health and Family Survey-5 (NHFS-5) has reported. As per survey 87.2 percent people in Urban areas while as 92.5 percent people in rural areas of J&K which means 91 percent people visit government health facilities whenever they get sick. Unidentified female body retrieved from NHPC dam Uri

An unidentified female body retrieved from NHPC water dam in Salamabad Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district this evening, officials said. They told that the locals spotted a female body floating in NHPC and informed local police. A team soon after visited the site and retrieved the body from the water body, they said. Confirming the retrieval of the body from the water dam, a police official told GNS that a case has been registered in this regard. “Efforts are on to ascertain the identity of the body”, he further said. Two ‘uncategorized’ militants arrested in Sopore, says Army
