Fear and panic have spread across the rural areas of Boniyar and Uri Tehsils of north Kashmir's Baramulla district after several leopards have been spotted in the areas. Locals from Boniyar told The Kashmiriyat that the presence of leopards can be felt in every village, which has left the residents terrified. "We are scared to go out of our houses even during the daytime. The animal seems to be everywhere." Meer Irfan A school bus met with an accident near Dubjan Bridge on Shopian's Mughal road on Wednesday evening resulting in critical injuries to three including a teacher. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches at four places in Jammu Kashmir on Wednesday in connection with a case related to cross-LoC trade and militancy funding cases, an official said. The searches were conducted at three locations in north Kashmir's Baramulla district and one in Handwara in Kupwara district, a spokesperson of the NIA said. The spokesperson said the case pertains to the generation of additional profits through trade across the Line of Control (LoC) between Jammu Kashmir and Pakistan and using the proceeds for fomenting militant activities in the region. The case was registered on December 16, 2016. The cross-LoC trade started in 2008 via two trade facilitation centers in Baramulla and Poonch. The trade has been suspended since April 2019. ...

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioner Anup Chandra Pandey carried out a review and directed the Jammu Kashmir Chief Electoral Officer to map the redrawn assembly constituencies. The electoral roll revision needs to be carried out before the first assembly election in Jammu Kashmir. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has ordered a four-month suspension in exports and re-exports of wheat and wheat flour originating from India, the world's second biggest producer of the grain, state news agency WAM reported on Wednesday. The Gulf nation's economy ministry cited interruptions to global trade flows as the reason for its move, but added that India had approved exports of wheat to the UAE for domestic consumption. India banned wheat exports on May 14, except for those backed by already issued letters of credit (LCs) and to countries seeking to ensure food security. Since then, it has allowed shipments of 469,202 tonnes of wheat.
