Zil Hajj moon not sighted, Eid ul Adha on July 10

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced Wednesday that the Zil-Hajj moon has not been sighted in Pakistan, adding that Eid ul Adha in Pakistan will be observed on July 10 (Sunday). Chairman Maulana Syed Abdul Khabir Azad announced the decision following a meeting of the committee, held in Karachi after Maghrib prayers to sight the crescent moon. The first day of Zil hajj would fall on July 1 (Friday), he added. Meanwhile Kashmir's Mufti Nasir ul Islam has said that there was not a single testament of the Zil-Hajj moon. Therefore, Eid-ul-Adha would be celebrated on 10 July. More to follow.

Education Department ‘intends’ to regulate use of Government land for running private schools

The School Education Department (SED) of J&K today said that they intend to regulate the use of Government land for running private schools. The department said that it is in their knowledge that many schools have either permission or lease from the Government regarding using the land for running schools. The department also highlighted that to fulfill these objectives, S.O 177 dated 15.04.2022 has been issued so that at the time of NOC /affiliation for schools at a different level, the use of land can be verified. In case of any private school running on Government land with due permission from competent revenue authority, they will be asked to submit papers regarding permission for use/lease of that particular Government land. Principal Secretary, Health Medical Education Department (H&ME) Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, today launched the mobile application “yatra22” and webpage www.yatra22.com for tracking health care facilities for Pilgrims undertaking Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2022 and to facilitate the identification and tracking of health facilities during emergencies. The App is available on the Google Play Store and IOS platform and can also be accessed through a web browser. Two Lashkar-i-Toiba militants were killed on Wednesday in an encounter at Nowpora Mir Bazaar area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district. One militant has been killed in an ongoing encounter in Nowpora Mir Bazaar area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday. An encounter has started between militants and Government forces in the Nawapora, Mir Bazar area in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Wednesday a joint group of RR,  CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police after receiving inputs about militant presence in Nowpora area of Kulgam, launched a cordon and search operation. Mother-daughter duo were injured in a road accident on the Srinagar-Kargil highway at Padabal Kangan area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. Police said that there was a collision between a load carrier and an Alto Car resulting in injuries to the mother-daughter duo. They have been identified as Ume Kulsoom wife of Muhammad Raheem and Zehra Batool daughter of Muhammad Raheem residents of Chankthan Kargil.
