Unattended Bag found at Rawalpora Srinagar, traffic suspended

An unattended bag has been found at Rawalpora on Sunday morning, prompting authorities to suspend traffic on the thoroughfare. Official sources told GNS that an unattended bag was found at Rawalpora area of the central Kashmir’s Srinagar district. Soon police and CRPF rushed to the spot and subsequently called Bomb Disposal Squad. Bear electrocuted after climbing a utility pole in Srinagar outskirts

Wildlife officials Sunday said that a bear was killed by electric shock when it climbed a utility pole in Chasma Shahi area of Srinagar outskirts probably to escape traffic and touched power lines. The incident occurred Saturday late evening. The bear after climbing on the utility pole came in touch with HT wire and died on the spot. An official told news agency Kashmir News Trust that bears sometimes climb utility poles the same way they climb trees when fleeing from danger. He added that the carcass will be taken to a forest to get buried. (KNT)

Two Indian army soldiers deployed on the India-China border in Arunachal Pradesh have been missing for the last 14 days. Harendra Negi along with Prakash Singh Rana were reported missing on May 28. The soldiers were deployed at the Thakla post on the Indo-China border in Arunachal Pradesh. Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested two persons along with arms and ammunition in Dooru area of Southern Kashmir’s Anantnag district. In a statement issued to GNS, the police said that police in Anantnag have arrested two persons identified as Rahil Ahmed Malik son of Gulzar Ahmed Malik and Shabir Ahmed Rather son of Ghulam Hassan Rather, both residents of Mehmodabad at a checkpoint established at Khudahmam Dooru. The statement further stated that incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including 1 Pistol, 1 Magazine and 11 Pistol rounds have been recovered from their possession. In this connection, a case vide FIR No. 51/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Dooru and further investigation initiated, reads the statement.(GNS)

The Uttar Pradesh Police have arrested 237 people in the north Indian state for their alleged involvement in the protests against the former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma on Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Among those arrested, 68 were held in Prayagraj and 50 in Hathras, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar said in a statement on Saturday. He said 55 people were arrested in Saharanpur, 28 in Ambedkar Nagar, 25 in Moradabad, eight in Firozabad, and three in237 Aligarh. The Government has also ordered the demolition of the house of those accused of violence in Saharanpur. One militant killed in ongoing Pulwama encounter: Police

An unidentified militant has been killed in an ongoing gunfight at Drabgam area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday, an official said. A senior police officer while confirming to GNS that one militant has been killed, whose identity is yet to be ascertained as gunfight is still in progress. Earlier a joint team of Police and army launched a cordon and search operation in the area. As the joint team of forces zeroed towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired on the joint team, which was retaliated triggering off a gunfight.(GNS)
