‘No order to shut down shops anywhere in Srinagar’, SSP Srinagar refutes claims of Shopkeepers

The Jammu Kashmir Police Wednesday refuted the claims made by shopkeepers from Panthachowk stating that they were ordered to shut down their shops for a period of fourty days in view of the Amarnath Yatra. In a statement, the Police has said, "There is a story going in 'certain groups' that shops are closed in Pantha Chowk, it is clarified that all shops are completely open in whole of Srinagar distt including in Panthachowk, except about a dozen or more mechanical/scrap shops inside yatra camp campus." ‘Hybrid’ militant arrested in Bandipora, says Police

The Government forces on Tuesday claimed to have arrested a "hybrid" militant and recovered arms from his possession in Bandipora. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that Government forces including the Jammu Kashmir Police on Tuesday arrested one Mehboob ul Inam, a resident of Nadihal in Baramulla at a checkpoint laid near Papchan in Bandipora. They said that his disclosure has led to the recovery of incriminating materials, arms/ammunition including 3 AK rifles, 10 Magazines, 380 rounds, 2KGs IED substance, 01 Chinese grenades, etc. The Police have registered a case in this regard.

Teenager dies at workplace after allegedly consuming poisonous substance

A 16-year-old teen died after consuming some poisonous substance at his workplace in Bemina area of Srinagar outskirts. The deceased has been identified as Ishfaq Ahmed Wani son of Ghulam Muhammad, a resident of Sugen Khag village of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district. Police sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that the deceased was working as a bread-maker in Bemina for the past 2 years. Sahil Gulzar A woman died due to electrocution at her home in Balpora village in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday. The woman received an electric shock after she came in contact with a live electric wire, sources told The Kashmiriyat. A health official said that she was immediately shifted to the sub-district hospital (SDH) Shopian where doctors declared her brought dead. The deceased woman has been identified as Tanseema Jan wife of Fayaz Ahmad Thoker. A policeman died of a cardiac arrest in Maisuma area of Srinagar on Wednesday morning, official sources said here.
