A Hizbul Mujahideen militant, who had been active for the last six years, was arrested in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, an official said on Sunday. Talib Hussain, a resident of Rashgwari in Nagseni tehsil, was arrested in a joint operation by police, Rashtriya Rifles and the CRPF, the police official said. Terming the arrest of the militant a "major blow" to the Hizbul Mujahideen and its plan to revive militancy in the district, the official said he had joined militancy in 2016 and remained active by way of recruiting youths into the ranks of the proscribed group. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that massive flames emerged from a residential house located just beside the Masjid Shareef in the congested Dangerpora area of Anantnag town in south Kashmir, which is spreading to the nearby structures. Calling it a breach of security, the BJP urged the J&K administration to find the source of the leak. The local residents of Kupwara district have alleged that Vehicle Tax collection checkpoints have become a major cause of traffic jams in the district. While talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), locals said that the checkpoints have become major cause of traffic jams in Braripora, Chotipora, Handwara, and Kupwara areas as they stop vehicles for tax collection and put other vehicles stranded in line. They also said that ambulances carrying patients are also lined up as these tax collecting agents do not miss a beat even after seeing the condition of the patients. One person was killed and ten others were injured when a passenger they were travelling in skidded off the road and rolled down into a gorge in Poonch district on Saturday. Official sources told GNS that at about 1500 hours, the Tata Sumo (JK14A-3699) met with an accident at Barari Nallah Sawjian in Mandi. Eleven persons boarding the vehicle were injured and one of them died later. The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Sadaq (52) son of Ali Bhadur of Gagrian. All the injured were shifted to PHC Sawjian and later four persons were later shifted to SDH Mandi.
