Hizbul Mujahideen militant arrested in Kishtwar

A Hizbul Mujahideen militant, who had been active for the last six years, was arrested in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, an official said on Sunday. Talib Hussain, a resident of Rashgwari in Nagseni tehsil, was arrested in a joint operation by police, Rashtriya Rifles and the CRPF, the police official said. Terming the arrest of the militant a "major blow" to the Hizbul Mujahideen and its plan to revive militancy in the district, the official said he had joined militancy in 2016 and remained active by way of recruiting youths into the ranks of the proscribed group. In Jammu and Kashmir only 176 teachers are working in different private unaided recognized schools at secondary and senior secondary level, reveals official figures. The official figures accessed by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) states that only 146 teachers working in private unaided recognized schools of Jammu and Kashmir for classes 9-12 were posted. According to the updated figures revealed by Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE), “Only 30 teachers for classes 11-12 were posted at the senior secondary level.” UDISE has also mentioned that there were a total of 69,689 teachers working in different private unaided recognized schools of Jammu and Kashmir out of which 11,225 teachers were teaching the students of primary level from classes 1-5. ...

Four person were killed while seven were critically when a cab rolled down the road in Poonch’s Saujiyan valley. Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a Tata Sumo (JK14A-3699) rolled down the road in Barari nallah in Saujiyan village. "One person got killed on the spot while 10 others received injuries. All were shifted from the site of accident to Sub District Hospital Saujiyan,” officials said adding that one of the injured succumbed to injuries in SDH Mandi. One person was killed and ten others were injured when a passenger they were travelling in skidded off the road and rolled down into a gorge in Poonch district on Saturday.
