‘Concerned employees should approach nodal officer for grievances’: Kulgam Admin issues order, Appoints Nodal officer

The district administration in Kulgam Thursday asked the Kashmiri Pandits employed in various departments to "approach the nodal officer Kulgam" with their grievances. In an official communique which The Kashmiriyat has a possession of, the Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam has appointed Mr. Zahid Sajad, as the Nodal officer for District Kulgam and said that all the concerned employees shall approach the concerned officer for the registration of their grievance(s), if any. Kashmiri Santoor Maestro Bhajan Sopori passes away at 73

Kashmiri maestro Bhajan Sopori died on Thursday at a Gurugram hospital following a prolonged illness, members of his family said. He was 73. Sopori is survived by his wife and two sons Sourabh and Abhay, who also plays santoor. Locally renowned for his song 'Kashmir' with vocals of Shameema Azad, the wife of Ghulam Nabi Azad, Bajan Sopori had received multiple awards through his career, including the Padma Shri in 2004, the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1992 and the Jammu Kashmir State Lifetime Achievement Award, Sopori learnt western classical music from Washington University and Hindustani music from his father and grandfather.

Divisional Commissioner Kashmir P K Pole on Thursday said that in view of respite in Covid-19 situation, Government of Saudi Arabia has allotted a Haj quota of around 6000, of which at least 5400 will be from Kashmir and remaining will be from Jammu and Ladakh regions. ‘In JK, 65% parents don’t prefer online apps for education’

The survey conducted by GMC Srinagar has found that 65 percent parents in Jammu and Kashmir don't prefer online applications for education of their children, while 20 percent parents do. "An online survey was conducted to study the screen time in children during COVID-19. The online Google Forms were shared through various social media sites and parents were asked to fill out the forms. A total of 307 responses were received and analysed," the survey document states, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). "The age of the children ranged from 0 to 18 years.
