Teenage Boy dies after falling into well in Kralpora Kupwara

A 17-year-old boy has died after falling into a well in Lone Harie village of Kralpora area in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district. Reports reaching GNS said that Bilal Ahmad Mochi, son of Abdul Ahad Mochi, resident of Lone Harie fell into an open well this afternoon. On learning about it, the family and locals, later assisted by police, launched efforts to rescue the boy. After nearly an hour of strenuous efforts, the boy was retrieved in an unconscious condition, however could not be revived thereafter. Confirming the incident, a police official told GNS that a team has been deputed to the site to look for possible reason, which might have led to his falling into the well. Meanwhile a pall of gloom descended over the whole area on the tragic death of the boy. (GNS)

Officials on Monday identified the two militants killed in the encounter in Kulgam as locals, who were affiliated with the militant outfit Lashkar e Taiba. Speaking to The Kashmiriyat officials said that RR of the Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police, and CRPF were fired upon by militants during a cordon and search operation in the Trubji area of Nowpora in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district. A class 11 student of Sainik School Mansbal was hospitalized after allegedly thrashed in the name of ‘ragging’ by his seniors. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Monday a joint group of RR,  CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police after receiving inputs about militant presence in Nowpora area of Kulgam, launched a cordon and search operation. The hiding militants opened fire on the troopers during the cordon, triggering an encounter. 2-3 militants are believed to be trapped in the area. As per locals, intermittent exchange of gunfire is going on at the site of the encounter. Details emerging.
