Amid a rise in Covid cases in various parts of the country including a slight increase in the JK, Director SKIMS Prof. Parvaiz A. Koul asks people not to panic and said following Covid appropriate behavior is critical to contain further spread of the infection. Prof Koul said that the situation is not worrisome as the positivity rate so far is not that high and hence there is no need to panic but lowering guard and paying no heed to Covid guidelines can degenerate the situation. Intruder killed two days ahead of Annual Amarnath Yatra on international border, says BSF

Two days ahead of the annual Amarnath Yatra, A Pakistani intruder was killed by BSF troops along the International Border in the Jammu district on Monday, officials said. They said that the troops traced the movement of the intruder near the Baqarpur Border Out Post (BoP) along the IB in R S Pura sector at about 4 am on Monday and opened fire. The intruder’s body is still lying near the fence, they said, adding, that a police team has reached the spot. "Two days ahead of Amarnath Yatra, a Pakistani intruder was shot dead near the international border in the RS Pura sector of Jammu by BSF, in Jammu Kashmir," a senior BSF officer said.

The Jammu Kashmir Police on Monday claimed to have arrested a militant along with arms and ammunition in district Doda of Jammu division. In a statement to GNS, the police said that Doda Police alongwith security forces have arrested one militant namely Fareed Ahmed son of Ghulam Hassan resident of Koti Doda and recovered 01 Chinese pistol, 02 Magazine,14 live cartridges and one mobile phone from his possession. Teenage boy drowns in pond in Handwara village, Rescue operation underway

A 17-year-old boy has drowned in a pond in Rajwar area of Handwara in north Kashmir's Kupwara district this afternoon. Reports reaching GNS said that Altaf Ahmad Tanchi son of Mohammad Shafi Tanchi, resident of Bowen Watsar drowned in a pond while taking bath. The others boys accompanying him raised an alarm following which police and locals started a rescue operation at the site. 8-year-young boy killed in road mishap in Zachaldara Handwara

An 8-year-old boy was killed after being hit by a passenger vehicle at his native village Zachaldara in Handwara of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district this afternoon. Reports reaching GNS said that one Irfan Ahmad Sheikh son of Nazir Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Zachaldara was fatally hit by a sumo vehicle bearing registration number JK09-2591. The boy was subsequently evacuated to PHC Zachaldara from where he was referred to DH Handwara, where the doctors declared him as brought dead on arrival. A family today staged a protest outside LD hospital allegedly claiming medical negligence for the death of a child inside the womb of the mother. Raising slogans, the family held the registrar, Dr Qurat and some PG doctors responsible for the death stating that they refused to operate upon the woman despite their pleas to operate on her. A female family member said that the doctors in the hospital are not less than ‘butchers’, and have no concern for their patients, nor the neonates.
