Sangam youth death case: Police arrests two person

Police on Friday claimed to have arrested two persons in connection of Shameem Ali Death case in Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district. In a handout to GNS, the police said that Shameem Ali Nath son of Ali Mohammad Nath resident of weir area Chatabal, was missing since 5th July, his dead body was later on recovered from Sangam area of Srinagar on Tuesday i.e 19th July. The police spokesman further stated that subsequently Inquest proceedings under section 174 of CRPC were initiated in PS Sangam. SC dismisses plea seeking to increase smoking age to 21

The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a plea seeking direction for removing designated smoking zones from commercial places and airports, increasing the age of smoking, banning the sale of cigarettes near educational institutions, healthcare institutions and places of worship. Muslim educational trusts in Karnataka to establish colleges allowing hijab

As many as 13 Muslim educational institutions have sought Karnataka government’s permission to set up Pre-University Colleges in Dakshina Kannada which would enable Muslim girl students to wear hijab inside classrooms. According to sources in the Education Department, all the applications have sought consent to open PU colleges (first and second PUC) in the coastal district of Dakshina Kannada from where the agitation for hijab began in Karnataka. Two non-local masons die after falling off under-construction building in Bemina

Two non-local masons died after falling off an under-construction building in Bemina area of Srinagar on Friday afternoon, officials said here. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that two masons from Bihar fell off an under-construction building of SDA at Bemina. Government Higher secondary students asked to deposit 20 Rupees for ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign

Haircutting rates fixed in Kashmir valley

The Directorate of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs has fixed rates for different services offered by barbers, including hair cutting and shaving in the Kashmir valley. As per an order issued by Director FCSCA the previous notifications issued on the subject by this Directorate and pursuant to Section-2 of the Consumer Protection Act-2019 were revised. “Simple Hair Cutting (Adult) Rs 55, Baby hair Cutting Rs 55, Children Hair Cutting Rs 50, Razor Hair Cutting, Rs 55, Simple Shave Rs 55, Khat Shave Rs 45, French Cut Rs 50, Threading full face Rs 45, Threading half face Rs 35," the notification reads. “This notification shall have an immediate effect,” the order read.

Two bodies found in South Kashmir’s Anantnag

Two bodies were recovered in two separate incidents in Qazigund and Pahalgam areas of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday, officials said here. A man was found dead in Nussu Badragund area of Qazigund, while an unidentified body was also found in Pahalgam in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday. Elderly woman dies after hit by vehicle in Ganderbal

A 56-year-old woman died after being hit by a Truck near Kahnpeth stop in Ganderbal district on Friday morning. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the elderly woman was injured after being hit by the truck today morning, and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where from she was referred to SKIMS Soura. She said that the injured woman succumbed to her injuries during treatment at SKIMS Soura. She has been identified as Azii Begum wife of Mohammad Sultan Sofi of Khanpeth.
