Police have registered a case after burglars looted money from a donation box of a shrine in Banihal area of the Ramban district. Sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that Police Station Banihal received a complaint from a man identifying himself as Farooq Ahmed Wani about the theft incident. He said that miscreants looted money from the donation box of the Tahir Shah Bhagdadi (RA) shrine at Tethar village of Banihal. Taking cognizance of the complaint a police team rushed to the shrine and after taking stock of the situation, registered an FIR vide number 169/2022 under section 458, 380 in this regard and set the investigation into motion. The much-hyped electrification of Budgam to Banihal railway track is all set to be completed by August 15 while the authorities said that the work on the track is in full swing. Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested seven gamblers along with stake money, above one lakh, in North Kashmir's Baramulla district. In a statement, Baramulla Police said that seven gamblers were arrested at Drung Park Tangmarg in Baramulla district. The playing cards along with stake money of ₹1,32,000/- was also recovered. Traders Union Sonamarg calls for complete Sonmarg bandh today(Thursday) to protest in favour of their demands. At least four residential houses were damaged in a fire incident in Lone Mohalla near Marriage Hall Khanyar in Srinagar on Thursday morning, reports said here. Wife of a BSF personnel was found dead under mysterious circumstances at official quarters of the paramilitary forces at Humhama here on Wednesday. Official sources told GNS that woman has been identified as Shubhamgi of Pohri Maharashtra and police was investigating the case. (GNS)

The administration on Wednesday declared “untimely” snow/heavy rain causing flash floods from 19th -22nd June 2022 in Jammu & Kashmir as State Specific Natural Disaster under SDRF norms. Subsequent, the government, according to an order, a copy of which lies with GNS, has asked all the concerned DCs to provide compensation from funds under SDRF to the affected families after due verification and strictly in accordance with SDRF norms/guidelines thereof.
