Government reduces budget for AMU, Jamia, funds to BHU doubled

The funds to Jamia Millia Islamia and Aligarh Muslim University were reduced by almost 15 per cent in the last financial year, 2022-22, in comparison to the previous year, the Ministry of Education stated in response to a question asked by Congress MP T.N. Prathapan. According to details provided by the ministry, Jamia Millia Islamia recorded a decline of nearly Rs 68.73 crore with respect to the fund allocation. The varsity’s fund was reduced from Rs 479.83 crore in 2020-21 to Rs 411.10 crore in 2021-22, Muslim Mirror reported. The allocation for AMU reduced from Rs 1,520.10 crore in 2020-21 to Rs 1,214.63 crore in 2021-22. It marked a decline of nearly Rs 306 crore. Money from Khanqah’s donation box looted in Banihal

Police have registered a case after burglars looted money from a donation box of a shrine in Banihal area of the Ramban district. Sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that Police Station Banihal received a complaint from a man identifying himself as Farooq Ahmed Wani about the theft incident. He said that miscreants looted money from the donation box of the Tahir Shah Bhagdadi (RA) shrine at Tethar village of Banihal. Taking cognizance of the complaint a police team rushed to the shrine and after taking stock of the situation, registered an FIR vide number 169/2022 under section 458, 380 in this regard and set the investigation into motion. Electrification of Budgam-Banihal railway track to be completed by Aug 15

The much-hyped electrification of Budgam to Banihal railway track is all set to be completed by August 15 while the authorities said that the work on the track is in full swing. Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested seven gamblers along with stake money, above one lakh, in North Kashmir's Baramulla district. In a statement, Baramulla Police said that seven gamblers were arrested at Drung Park Tangmarg in Baramulla district. The playing cards along with stake money of ₹1,32,000/- was also recovered. 4 residential houses damaged in Khanyar blaze

At least four residential houses were damaged in a fire incident in Lone Mohalla near Marriage Hall Khanyar in Srinagar on Thursday morning, reports said here.
