Indian Airplane makes emergency landing in Pakistan, Second case in a month

A passenger plane of India's Indigo airlines was diverted to the Pakistani city of Karachi on Sunday morning while en route from the UAE to Hyderabad after the pilot observed a technical fault, the carrier said in a statement. "IndiGo flight 6E-1406, operating from Sharjah to Hyderabad was diverted to Karachi. The pilot observed a technical defect. Necessary procedures were followed and as a precaution, the aircraft was diverted to Karachi," the company said in a statement. An additional flight is on its way to Karachi to fly its passengers to Hyderabad. This is the second such case this month, in which an Indian passenger flight was diverted to Pakistan. AMU budget cut by 85 per cent, Congress stages protest

Congress workers on Saturday held protests at various places in Uttar Pradesh against the BJP government for cutting the Aligarh Muslim University’s budget to nine core from 62 cores in 2018. They also sent memorandums to Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan urging him to increase the varsity’s budget to 100 crores. Congress leader Shahnawaz Alam slammed Prime Minister Narendra over the same. Driver killed, another injured in Kokernag road accident

Sheikh Nadeem One person was killed and another in a road accident at the Nagam area of Kokernag in south Kashmir's Anantnag district on Sunday morning. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that an Auto Rickshaw bearing the Registration number JKO3H 7657 skidded off the main road in the Nagam Irkumoo Canal in Anatnag's Kokernag area, causing injuries to two persons. The injured were referred to the nearby hospital where one identified as Mohammed Hussain Mir alias Nikki Mir son of Abdul Aziz Mir of Nagam Kokernag died of his injuries. Another person who got injured in this accident was identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Naikoo. The Jammu Kashmir Police have started an investigation into the matter.

Owais Yaqoob, 23, a resident of Murran village of Pulwama has to his credit 11 gold medals at a national level, six silver medals at the national level besides 17 gold medals at the state level in different forms of martial art. Mahatma Gandhi’s statue vandalised in Panjab, Residents demand action against accused

A statue of Mahatma Gandhi was vandalised by some unidentified people at a public park in Ramman Mandi, said police on Saturday. The incident took place on the intervening night between Thursday and Friday, they said. Station House Officer (Sadar) Harjot Singh Mann said they are investigating the matter, and have registered a case at Ramman Mandi Police Station. The Jammu Kashmir police on Saturday arrested one person from Bandipora in the alleged 'fake Sim Card racket' and said the person was issuing fake sim cards by forging documents. In a press release, the Police stated, Bandipora Police had received information through reliable sources that some PoS agents were allegedly cheating people by forging their documents to procure Sim cards for their personal interests and selling such Sim cards for criminal acts. In this regard Case FIR No. 109/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered in PS Bandipora and further investigation started, Police said. Budgam youth dies, another injured in Dras road accident

A youth from Budgam was killed while another one was grievously injured in a road accident on Saturday at Dras Bridge when they were returning from Ladakh. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that two persons, who were returning back after their visit to Ladakh on their motorcycle, met an accident at Dras Bridge, leaving them grievously injured. He said that they were shifted to a nearby hospital, where one among them was declared dead on arrival. He identified the deceased as Suhail Ahmad Dar son of Mohd Ramzan Dar and the injured was identified as Faisal Ahmad Dar son of Ab Khaliq Dar—both residents of Zaloosa Charari-Sharief. After protests, Punjabi University removes content describing Bhindrawale as ‘terrorist’

After protests over a part of the syllabus of M.A political science, the Panjab University has decided to change the content that describes Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale as a "terrorist". Pertinently, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) had raised strong objections to the controversial language used about Bhindranwale. “I came to know about the objectionable content. We will remove it and launch a probe into how it became part of the syllabus,” Satnam Singh Sandhu, head of Distance Education Department of Punjabi University, Patiala told The Indian Express. The controversial reference to Bhindranwale is a part of my M.A in political science (distance mode). The university has also formed a three-member committee to probe the same.

JK reports 224 Covid-19 cases, No death

Jammu and Kashmir reported 224 fresh covid-19 cases in last 24 hours, taking the overall caseload to 451104, even as there was no death due to the pathogen during the time, officials said on Saturday. 112 cases were reported from Jammu division and as many as from Kashmir division, they said. Giving district wise details, he said, Srinagar reported 88 cases, Jammu 82 , Udhampur 11, Kathua eight, Baramulla seven, Ganderbal and Pulwama five each, Doda and Budgam four each, Kupwara three, Rajouri two and Samba one. Among the total cases, 168090 are from Jammu division and 288739 from Kashmir, they said. There was no death from Jammu region due to the pathogen in the last 24 hours, they said.
