Motorcyclist injured after being allegedly hit by Army vehicle in Kulgam

A motorcyclist was injured after he was allegedly hit by Army vehicle in south Kashmir's Kulgam district. Reports reaching said The Kashmiriyat said that an accident took place between an Army vehicle and a motorcycle bearing registration number JK03B 7178 at Balsoo in Kulgam district. The accident resulted in injuries to the motorcyclist identified as Subzar Ahmad Bhat son of Late Lassa Bhat, a resident of Laroo Kulgam. Subzar who is a dairy farm owner was shifted to hospital for treatment.

Balochistan militants abduct, murder Pakistan Army official

The body of a Pakistan Army officer, who was abducted earlier this week by militants, was found on Thursday on a highway in the restive province of Balochistan, officials said. The outlawed Balochistan Liberation Army, which was designated a terrorist group by the United States in 2019, has claimed responsibility for the killing of Col. Laeeq Baig Mirza. Mirza was travelling with his family from the town of Ziarat, 100 kilometres northeast of Quetta, the capital of Balochistan, when assailants seized them on Tuesday. The assailants did not harm his family members, but abducted Mirza. The family had travelled to Ziarat from Karachi on the eve of the Eid al-Adha holidays, officials said. Army soldier killed, 3 others injured in fratricidal firing in Surankote

An army soldier was killed and three others injured in an alleged fratricidal firing at a camp in Surankote area of Poonch district on Friday, official sources said. They told GNS that the fratricidal firing incident happened between soldiers of 156 Territorial Army and one of them Sepoy Ibrar Ahmed died on the spot while three others including Sepoy Makan Singh, Naik Khalil Ahmed and Naik Imtiaz Ahmed were injured. They said the injured were airlifted to army hospital in Udhampur and condition of one of them, Naik Imtiaz Ahmed, is stated to be very critical. Several troopers injured in firing incident inside Army camp in Surankote

At least three to four army personnel have reportedly suffered injuries in a firing incident that took place inside an army camp in Surankote area of Poonch district on Friday morning, official sources said here. Official sources told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the firing incident took place today early morning hours inside the army camp in Surankote town. They said that in this firing incident, some army personnel suffered injuries whose number is believed to be three to four. They added that the exact reason of the firing incident is not known, however, it is suspected to be either a case of fratricide or accidental firing. Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested five gamblers along with stake money in North Kashmir's Baramulla district. In a statement, Baramulla Police said that five gamblers were arrested at Alambal Mirgund Pattan in Baramulla district. The playing cards along with stake money of ₹18,300/- was also recovered. “Baramulla Police received reliable information regarding presence of gamblers at Alambal Mirgund Pattan, Baramulla jurisdiction of Police Post Mirgund, reacting on the information, Police Party of Police Post Mirgund rushed towards spot and arrested seven gamblers from the said spots,” police statement reads. Order issued in Arunachal Pradesh for removal of word ‘beef’, Netizens aghast

19-year-young boy on picnic dies as tree falls on him in Kulgam

Danishwar Hameed A 19-year-old youth died on Thursday after a tree fell on him at the famous picnic spot Kongwatan in Aharbal area of south Kashmir's Kulgam district. The boy has been identified as Ubair Kumar son of Ghulam Hassan Kumar resident of Pranhal Kulgam. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that the deceased had gone to a picnic with his friends when a tree fell onto him resulting in his death.

29% youth in Jammu Kashmir unmarried despite crossing ‘marriageable’ age: Report

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation has revealed, in its latest survey, that Jammu Kashmir has the highest number of unmarried youth. According to the survey "Youth in India 2022," Jammu Kashmir has the highest percentage of young people (aged up to 29 years) who are not married than the national average at 29.1%. In 2019, 25% of young people nationwide were not married. The percentage was 18 percent in 2011. In Jammu Kashmir, 25.3% of youth between the ages of 15 and 29 were single in 2011. Amarnath pilgrim from Andhra dies of cardiac arrest in Pahalgam

An Amarnath pilgrim died of cardiac arrest, while a horseman died after falling off horse on Thursday during Amarnath Yatra in Pahalgam area of South Kashmir's Anantnag area, officials said here. Over 1 Lakh trees worth Rs 13.76 crore axed for Srinagar ring road

More than one lakh private trees of Apple, Chinar, Walnut, and Mulberry among other species valued at Rs 13.76 crore have been chopped down by the National Highway Authorities of India (NHAI) for the hyped "Srinagar Ring Road", an RTI reply has revealed. According to PTI, The response received by RTI activist Raman Sharma from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on his queries said over 1,200 more private trees which form the lush green cover of the Valley will be chopped down in the coming days to build the new tarmac around Srinagar.
