Slamming the BJP over rising prices in the country, TMC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee has said that India’s condition will soon be like that in Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. The TMC leader launched a sharp attack on BJP and slammed the Centre over rising fuel prices. Abhishek said that petrol is currently priced at Rs 106 a litre, while even kerosene has seen a massive price hike over the years. Banerjee reportedly warned that soon, people in the country will face a shortage of food and fuel and India’s situation will become like that of conflict-torn Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. 210 people fall sick ‘mysteriously’ after drinking water in Anantnag area

Bhat Imtiyaz Panic has struck the Hillar area of Dooru in south Kashmir's Anantnag district after allegedly consuming drinking water in the area. As per locals, Hundreds of people have fallen ill due to allegedly drinking unhealthy water in the south Kashmir area. They said that four days ago, some people complained of sickness after drinking water and since then hundreds of people have complained of similar sickness. "We rushed all of them to the nearby hospital, however, the actual cause of the pain is not known as of yet," Abdul Rashid a local told The Kashmiriyat. NIA raids at multiple locations in South Kashmir

National Investigation Agency is carrying out raids at multiple places in South Kashmir in connection with Sunjwan Jammu encounter in which two Jaish-e-Mohammad militants and a CISF trooper were killed in April this year. Official Sources told GNS NIA sleuths with the assistance of police and paramilitary CRPF personnel is carrying out the raids in Anantnag district and Awantipora area of Pulwama district. However they did not share further details as regards arrests or seizures, if any, during the raids so far. (GNS)

Infiltration Attempt’ Foiled Along LoC In Poonch: Army

Army on Wednesday said that an “infiltration attempt” was foiled during last night along the Line of Control in Poonch district. However, if anyone was killed or any recovery of weapons or drugs etc made was not revealed so far. “During the midnight hours of 12 / 13 July 2022, there was an infiltration attempt along LoC in the Poonch sector(J&K), which was suitably foiled by our alert troops,” a defence ministry spokesman based in Jammu said in a statement issued here. Teenager drowns in Nallah Madumati in Bandipora, rescue ops on

A 15-year-old boy has drowned in Nallah Madumati near Goiwar area of Sonerwani in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district late last evening even as rescue operation has been launched to trace his body. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the boy had drowned in the Nallah last evening, while the matter was reported to the police today morning. He said that rescue teams including SDRF, police and army have been pressed into service to trace the body of the missing boy. He said that they have also requested KGHEP authorities to cut the flow of water that goes down stream in Nallah Madumati, so that rescue operation is carried out smoothly.
