‘Have not received study material yet’, KU’s B.Ed students demand deferment of exams

The B.Ed students of 1st and 2nd Semester Batch (2020-22) registered through the Directorate of Distance Education (DDE), of the University of Kashmir are demanding their exams be rescheduled which commences on the 10th of August 2022. Jammu & Kashmir Students Movement (JKSM) learnt that the students who are going to appear in the examination in the second week of August are yet to receive the study material from the Directorate of Distance Education. In the last three months, over 4 lakh tourists visited Dodhpathri in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district. As per the data available the year 2021 saw 134994 visitors at Dodhpatrhri. Figures reveal that this year from April 1 to July 24, 442620 visitors, including tourists and locals visited the tourist sport. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Doodpathri Development Authority Nargis Suraya said that the increase in footfall of visitors was possible by the hard work of the administration. At least nine persons were injured after a vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell into a river in Pahalgam area of South Kashmir's Anantnag district, officials said. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a Tata Sumo vehicle (JK01F-4391) over turned and felt into river near Sangam hotel Sadhu Padav Pahalagm, resulting in injuries to nine persons. A CRPF trooper was detained at the Srinagar International Airport on Saturday morning after airport security recovered live rounds and tear shell from his baggage. Official sources told news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC), that during screening at the drop gate of the Srinagar International Airport, 2 live AK rounds, 1 INSAS round and 1 teargas smoking shell was recovered from the baggage of Constable Rana Pratap of 161Bn CRPF who was proceeding on leave from Srinagar to Ranchi by Indigo Airlines. Pratap, who is posted at Dalgate, was immediately detained for questioning and later handed over to police post Humhama, sources said. Convicted Kashmiri separatist Yasin Malik was discharged after remaining admitted at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in New Delhi for four days and has returned to Tihar Jail, IANS reported. "He (Malik) came back to Tihar on Friday," Director General (Prisons), Sandeep Goyal, was quoted as saying by IANS. Malik was hospitalised by the prison authorities after his health deteriorated on July 26 following his ongoing hunger strike. After returning to his cell, Malik has decided to continue with his hunger strike and is still not having any food. "He is still on intravenous fluids," the top prison official said. A water supply scheme in south Kashmir's Pulwama district is functioning without a filtration plant forcing residents to drink contaminated water. Residents of Alochibagh, Pampore in Pulwama told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that the water supply scheme has been functional in the area for more than a decade and work on the filtration plant was started in 2012 but is yet to be completed.
