A police officer was shot dead while two cops were injured after militants attacked a naka party near GD Goanka school in Lal Bazar area of Srinagar on Tuesday evening. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that militants fired upon a naka party at Lal Bazar area, resulting in on spot death of an ASI and injuries to two other cops. He identified the deceased ASI as Mushtaq Ahmad, while head constable and SPO, who were injured have been evacuated to a nearby hospital. Suspected militants Tuesday opened fire on Government forces in the Lal Bazar area of Srinagar in Central Kashmir. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that militants attacked police Naka at Lal Bazaar by firing a few rounds of bullets in the Srinagar area. Police urges shopkeepers not to sell uniforms of Police, Security forces to any civilians

Police on Tuesday requested shop keepers and tailors to not sell or stitch uniforms of Police and security forces to any civilians except those carrying valid identity cards. In a tweet Srinagar police wrote, "In view of reported misuse, all Cloth/Garment sellers, Tailors etc. are requested not to sell Police/CAPF/army type uniform & camouflage pattern wear to any civilian. Further record to be maintained of all such sales even if they are made to police/CAPF/army(after seeing I Cards)". A senior police officer told GNS that although order has been passed earlier about Ban of selling Police and security force uniform to civilians, It will be vigorously implemented this time.(GNS)

Srinagar's Government Medical College has seen a 2000 per cent hike in heroin abuse cases in the last five years, News 18 reported. In 2016, the Oral Substitution Therapy (OST) Centre at the Government Medical College in Srinagar reported 489 cases, In 2017 to 3,000, a growth of seven times than the previous year.. In 2019, the number climbed to 7,000 and crossed the 10,000 mark in 2021 with an overall 2,000% spike in the last five years. A five-member delegation of the Akhil Bhartiya Teerth Purohit Mahasabha (ABTPM) from Delhi has left for Jammu and Kashmir to know about the condition of the teerth purohits and Kashmiri Pandits, an official said. ABTPM national president Mahesh Pathak Chaturvedi on Tuesday said that the Delhi delegation left on Monday, with more to follow from other states. Chaturvedi said that they are in touch with the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, who has assured the teerth purohits of full security during their visit to religious places in Srinagar and nearby places. Kashmir-based artisan Maqbool Ahmad Dar is the first artisan from the valley who prepared the first carpet with a 'National Flag' design with the aim to uplift his art. Miscreants loot cash from Gurdwara in Tral

Miscreants have looted unaccounted cash from a donation box at a Gurduwara in Tral town of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. The incident occurred at Khasipora Tral during the intervening night of 11 and 12 July at Gurudwara Singh Sabha. DDC member Avtar Singh Trali told news agency Kashmir News Trust that the Gurudwara is under construction and devotees had donated a lot of money that had been kept in the safe and strong donation box, which was looted by the burglars. He expressed concern and hoped that police will nab the culprits. Avtar Singh Trali appealed to the government to deploy security guards at minority religious places. Semi-decomposed, body recovered from river Sindh in Ganderbal

An unidentified semi-decomposed body was recovered from Bajri Nallah near Baltal area of Central Kashmir's Ganderbal district late last night late Hours , officials said here on Tuesday. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that some locals spotted the body floating in the Sindh and informed the concerned police station immediately. He said that soon after being informed, a police team reached to the spot and retrieved the body. Five residential houses gutted in massive blaze in Kokernag area

Sheikh Nadeem At least five residential houses were gutted in a fire mishap at Buchoo Kokernag in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. Confirming the incident, an official said that the fire broke out from a residential house and later engulfed the nearby residential structures as well. “Following the incident, the firefighters and locals rushed to the spot and doused the flames. However, five houses were damaged in the massive blaze in this incident," the official told The Kashmiriyat.
