Moving train crushes man to death in Budgam

An unidentified man was crushed to death by a moving train on Nowgam-Budgam railway section in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Saturday morning. Reports reaching to GNS said that train (74626) from Budgam to Banihal hit one unknown person at KM No 65/7 in between Budgam to Srinagar section, resulting in on spot death of a person whose identification is being ascertained. Meanwhile a police official also confirmed to GNS said that a case has been registered in this regard for further investigations.(GNS)

Kashmir colleges to observe summer vacations from July-09

Authorities on Friday announced summer vacations for all government degree colleges of Kashmir division and winter zones of Jammu division from July 09. As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the vacations are scheduled from July-09 to July-17. Principal secretary, Higher Education Department, Rohit Kansal in order said, “All government degree colleges of Kashmir division and winter zone government degree colleges of Jammu division shall observe summer vacations with effect from July-09 to July-17.”—(KNO)

55-year-old man killed after landslide hits his house in Poonch

A 55-year-old man was killed while his other family members had narrow escape after a landslide hit his Kacha house in Bandikamakhan area of Mandi in Poonch district, officials said on Friday. They said that the incident happened during night and the man, Abdul Karim Mir (55) was sleeping inside his kacha house. While HE died on spot, the other family members had a miraculous escape. Srinagar,(GNS): Police on Friday said that they arrested a lady along with 250gram of charas-like substance in the Wagoora area of North Kashmir's Baramulla district. In a handout to GNS, the police said that on routine Naka checking, Police Kreeri arrested one lady drug peddler namely Bilkees Akhter wife of Ab Rehman Malik @ Military resident of Kalantra Payeen, District Baramulla and recovered 250 Grams of Charas like substance from her possession. The police spokesman further stated that worth to mention here that the lady was accompanied by her spouse who fled away after the advantage of darkness, and efforts are on to arrest him. Doctor dies while returning to home for Eid celebration

Danishwar Hameed The Doctor posted in PHC Bagodass Mahore as Medical Officer died in a road accident while he was on his way home for the Eid celebration. Reporting reaching The Kashmiriyat said that the Doctor who was a resident of Kulgam district died when he lost control of his vehicle which plunged into a deep gorge in the Sangaldan area. The deceased has been identified as Muzaffar Ahmad Wani S/o Mohd Yousuf Wani, a resident of the Mondhole village area of Devsar tehsil in south Kashmir's Kulgam district.

Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was on Friday confirmed dead after he was shot at during a campaign speech in Nara City, western Japan, local media reported citing officials. "Officials say former Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo has been confirmed dead. He was reportedly shot during a speech on Friday in the city of Nara, near Kyoto," Japanese media outlet NHK tweeted on its official Twitter handle.
