The School Education Department has asked the Senior Superintendent of Police, JK Security not to allow teachers and masters to enter civil Secretariat Srinagar without proper permission from the department. According to a letter by Under Secretary to Government School Education Department, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) teachers, master and other employees visit the civil secretariat on a daily basis, which hampers the official business in the department. Flash flood washes away tipper in Rajouri, Driver retrieved dead, Helper untraced

A tipper driver was retrieved dead with his helper still untraced after flash floods swept them away along their vehicle in Rajouri in Darhalli Nallah in Rajouri district on intervening Thursday and Friday night, officials said. Dead body of Srinagar teenage girl retrieved from Jehlum after 3 days

River Police on Friday morning retrieved the dead body of a teenage girl from Srinagar in Palapora area of Srinagar. Pertinently, a teenage girl (name withheld), a resident of Bhagwanpora Noor Bagh had jumped into the river Jehlum on Wednesday near Cement Bridge Noor Bagh area of Srinagar. Since then, efforts were on to retrieve her body. An official from the River Police told KNT that the body has been handed over to police post-Noor Bagh which after the completion of required formalities will hand it over to the family. (KNT)

Militant, soldier killed as Army foils infiltration bid along LoC in Kupwara

The Army on Friday foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Tangdhar sector of North Kashmir's Kupwara district by killing a militant. Official sources told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that soldiers noticed some suspicious movement along the LoC and challenged the intruders. They said that militants attempted to infiltrate in Tangdhar and subsequently were challenged by the alert troops deployed along the LoC. They added that militants opened fire, which was retaliated effectively, in which one militant got killed. NH-44 Blockade: Yatris stopped at Yatri Niwas in Chanderkote, Say officials

As Srinagar-Jammu National Highway has been blocked due to landslides, Amarnath Yatri who were coming from Jammu toward Kashmir have been stopped at Yatri Niwas in Chanderkote. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that as traffic has been suspended on the national highway, Yatris coming to Kashmir have been stopped at Yatri SASB Niwas in Chanderkote where arrangements are already in place for them. He said that once road is cleared, Yatris will be allowed to move towards Kashmir. Meanwhile, officials told KNO that around one lakh pilgrims have performed Yatra so far. Youth opens swimming pool in Srinagar

Amid the frequent drowning incidents in Kashmir, a youth from Tankipora area of Srinagar has constructed a swimming pool for people, especially youth with an aim to prevent the loss of lives in water bodies. Udhampur, (KNO): Two persons were killed while 38 others were injured after a bus carrying a marriage party guests met with an accident at Ramnagar area of Udhampur on Thursday, officials said. Chief Medical Officer Udhampur, Dr. Vijay Basnotra told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that two persons were brought dead to the hospital while 38 injured are undergoing treatment.
