KRA urges admin to allow on-street parking in view of Eid-ul-Adha

Complaining of the slump in footfall for Eid shopping due to the shortage of parking lots in Kashmir markets, especially in the summer capital of Srinagar markets, Kashmir Retailers Association affiliated has sought the personal intervention of Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha. The British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss has also cut short her trip to a G20 meeting in Indonesia to return to London, CNN quoted Britain's PA news agency as reporting on Thursday. Truss is widely seen as one of the potential contenders for the leader of the Conservative Party. Scooty rider, pillion killed in Kangan road accident

Srinagar, (KNO): A scooty rider and his pillion died in a road accident that took place near Margund area of Kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Thursday afternoon. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a scooty collided head-on with sumo near Margund, resulting in on spot death of scooty rider and his pillion. He said that police have taken cognizance of the matter and have started inquest proceedings in this regard. Army Porter Injured In Mine Blast Near LoC In Poonch

An army porter was injured in a landmine blast near Line of Control in Dallan sector of Poonch, official sources said on Thursday. They told GNS that the incident occurred around 1300 hours. The injured, Tanveer Hussain son of Mohammad Latieef Jatt of Digwar Murdiala was shifted to military hospital Poonch for treatment. It was not immediately known if the porter stepped on the mine leading to injuries to him or the blast took place due to any other reason. (GNS)

12-year-old girl commits suicide in Kulgam village

Kulgam,  (KNO): A 12-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in the Yaripora area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Thursday, officials said here. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the girl (name withheld) from Yaripora hanged herself at her home today and she died on the spot. The official said that it was not immediately known why the girl took this extreme step. “Police have registered a case and initiated proceedings in this regard,” he said—(KNO)

Woman dies after ‘slipping’ into well in Kupwara

A 34-year-old woman died after 'slipping' into a well in Cherkote area of north Kashmir's Kupwara district on Thursday, official sources said. They told GNS that Tasleema Begum, wife of Mohammad Ramzan Peer, resident of Nadpora village Cherkote 'slipped' and fell into the well this morning, adding, she was rescued and taken to SDH Kupwara where the doctors declared her as brought dead on arrival. Confirming the death of the woman a police official told GNS though as per initial reports she slipped into the well resulting in her demise however we are still ascertaining how she actually fell into the well. 1 dead, 2 including minor injured in gas cylinder blast in Bandipora village

One person was killed while two were injured in cylinder blast of a house in Kudara village of North Kashmir's Bandipora district on Thursday, while house was also damaged, officials said here. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the blast took place inside the house of Mohammad Shafi, leading to onspot death one person and injuries to two others. He said that the house also got damaged in the incident. The official said that following the incident injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Eid prayers to be offered in Anantnag at 7:30 AM, In Srinagar at 9AM

Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid Srinagar has announced that as per the Islamic tradition, Eid-ul-Adha prayers would be offered at the historic Eidgah in Srinagar at 9Am. Missing since July 04, man’s body recovered from Jhelum in Baramulla

The body of a man was recovered from river Jhelum near Khadiniyar area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Wednesday, a few days after he went missing from his home. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the body was found by locals in river Jehlum near Khadiniyar area, who later informed the police. He identified the deceased as Javid Ahmad Lone of Jal Sheeri Baramulla, who was missing since 4 July. The official said that the body has been sent to hospital for medico-legal formalities and will be handed over to his relatives for last rites. GMC Hospital Anantnag lacks MRI facility, patient suffer

Patients are suffering due to non-availability of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) facility at Government Medical College Hospital in Anantnag. Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) patients said that in absence of MRI, they are forced to visit private diagnostic centres. Mohammad Yaseen, a patient from Anantnag said that doctors advised him to go for an MRI but in absence of the facility at the GMC, patients like him are forced to visit private diagnostic centres. He said that it costs Rs 5000-6000 for a patient to undergo an MRI at a private diagnostic centre. “Many patients like me visit clinics to get MRI done at private diagnostic centres.
