After remaining suspended for a day Amarnath Yatra resumes again

After remaining suspended for a day, Amarnath Yatra resumed on Wednesday with improvement in weather conditions in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said here. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that Yatra has resumed through both routes from Chandanwari and Baltal in Pahalgam and Ganderbal areas respectively. Meanwhile, divisional commissioner Jammu also informed that temporarily suspended Yatra has resumed again after improvement in weather conditions. "The Yatra which was suspended temporarily and halted in Jammu due to bad weather conditions has now been resumed on account of improved weather conditions,” Divisional Commissioner Jammu tweeted. IED Detected, Defused in Baramulla district

Police and security force on Wednesday detected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Pattan area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district, official sources said. They said that IED was found at Srinagar- Baramulla Highway near Pattan and later defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad which was rushed to the area. Meanwhile traffic will be resumed shortly on the highway after being halted temporarily, a senior police officer told GNS. (GNS)

Two newly recruited militants surrender in Kulgam, says Police

Two newly recruited militants on Wednesday surrendered before security forces after an overnight encounter in Hadigam area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district. A senior police officer told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that on a specific information about the presence of militants’, joint team of forces including Army's 9 RR, CRPF and police launched Cordon-and-Search-Operation in Hadigam area of the district. Recovered stolen cigarettes worth lacs, accused arrested in Sopore: Police

Shabir Khan One person was arrested after Police station Tarzoo received a written complaint from one Waseem Ahmad Dar R/O Naseembagh Sopore to that some unknown burglars entered into his shop and stole Cigarettes. Upon receiving the complaint, under case FIR No. 59/2022 U/S 457, 380 IPC was registered in Police Station Tarzoo. A team was constituted, and during the course of the investigation one person namely, Amjid Hussain Kambay R/O Hygam Sopore confessed his involvement in the crime. Cigarettes worth lacs were recovered from the possession and were later arrested. Furthermore, the investigation of the case is going on and more recoveries are expected. The general public is advised to install CCTV cameras, as it helps in solving such crimes.

The Jammu Kashmir Peace Forum headed by Satish Mahaldar thanked the Prime Minister of India, his Cabinet ministers, and the LG Manoj Sinha for the approval and allocation of separate budget hence forth i.e 2.5 % of annual Budget of JK , towards return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants with effect from 11/03/2022. Elderly man commits suicide in Hajin village

Hajin, (KNO): An elderly man committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance in the Shahgund area of Hajin in north Kashmir's Bandipora district on Tuesday, officials said here. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the man (name withheld), aged around 70, committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at his home. He said that soon after the incident he was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where from he was shifted to Srinagar, where he died during treatment. The official said that after conducting a postmortem of the body it was handed over to his relatives for last rites. Police register case against casual labor for threatening a senior journalist

Police in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district have registered a case against a casual laborer working in the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) after a senior journalist accused him of assault when the latter filed a story about ‘malpractices’ at Weigh Bridge Sonmarg where the accused is posted from last 16 years. Admin dissolves local committee of Khiram Khanqah, SDM takes charge

The JK administration under LG Manoj Sinha on Tuesday dissolved the management committee of Ziarat Sharief Hazratbal Khiram in Bijbehara area of Anantnag district and appointed SDM (Sub District Magistrate) Bijbehara as the management committee. “Deputy Commissioner Anantnag had constituted a committee under the chairmanship of SDM Bijbehara for examining the accounts of the shrine and other recommendations to conduct new elections for the selection of the committee to run the affairs of the shrine,” according to the government order, The SDM had also recommended a detailed inquiry into the affairs of the shrine, the order reads. Scooty rider dies after hit by a truck in Central Kashmir’s Kangan

A Scooty rider died after hit by a speeding truck in Kangan town of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. The incident occurred at Kisanapati Ganiwan area, police sources said. They said a truck (JK04F-3295) hit a Scooty (JK16B-3357) rider leading to the death of the rider who has been identified as 28-year-old Ashiq Ahmed Raina son of Ghulam Muhammad, a resident of Mammar Kangan. Dr Tanveer, who is posted at Primary Health Centre Ganiwan told KNT that Scooty rider was brought dead at the Centre. Police in this regard have registered a case under relevant sections of law.
