Parked ambulance skids off the road, submerges into river Chenab

A parked ambulance with no one on board accidentally skidded off the road and submerged into the river Chenab in Doda district of Jammu Kashmir on Friday morning. Police sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that 108 Ambulance from Medical Block Padder of District Kishtwar submerged into river Chenab near Ganpat Bridge Doda. They said the driver had parked the ambulance for some maintenance work but accidentally skidded off the road and fell into the river. Sources added that nobody was present in the ambulance at the time of the mishap. Doda Police has taken cognizance of the incident whereas rescue teams from SDRF and Police have pressed into service to locate the submerged ambulance. (KNT)

Minor girl killed in leopard attack in Anantnag

Suhail Dar A minor girl was killed in a leopard attack in the Anantnag district's Gopalpur area. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Friday evening, a 6-year-old girl named Zubaida Jan daughter of Ghulam Mohiuddin Chopan was pounced upon by a leopard when she was outside her home. The family along with the locals tried to rescue Zubaida, however, the leopard left the minor girl with critical wounds leading to her death.

Thirty-three militants were killed in 19 encounters in June in Kashmir, said official data. As per data available with news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), of the 19 encounters, Kulgam saw five encounters, Shopian and Pulwama three each, Anantnag, Kupwara, Baramulla and Srinagar saw two encounters each. Verinag, (KNO): A 14-year-old boy, who was Hafiz-e-Quran, drowned to death in Nallah Sandran in the Verinag area of South Kashmir's Anantnag district on Friday evening. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the boy identified as Saqib Ahmad Badana son of Bilal Ahmad Badana of Gurinard Verinag was bathing in Nallah Sandran when he drowned. He said that locals present at the spot retrieved his body and he was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
