DC Kulgam reviews Eid-ul-Adha arrangements

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat today convened a meeting of officers to review the arrangements put in place for the upcoming festive occasion of Eid-ul-Adha. During the meeting, the DC directed officers of Jal Shakti and KPDCL to ensure a smooth supply of water and electricity across the district. He also directed the Jal Shakti department to press water tankers in required areas and ensure no shortage of water at any place. Sopore Police seeks help of general public to trace out the missing person.

A youth has gone missing from his home in Sopore area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district. According to a Police press release, Police Post Putkha received a written complaint from one namely Manzoor Ahmad Ganie S/O Abdul Khaliq Ganie R/O Putkha Muqam, stating that his son namely Danish Manzoor Ganie left for Srinagar on 25 June 2022 for work, but neither he reached at the place of work nor back to home since he left. It's pertinent mention here that the missing person is married and having 05 years old son. In this regard missing report has been diarized and Sopore police seeks help of general public to trace the missing person. A division bench of Jammu & Kashmir High Court on Friday directed the authorities to allow family of Amir Magrey, who was killed in last year’s Hyderpora encounter, to perform Fateha Khawani of deceased at Wadder Payeen, Handwara but declined to accept the prayer for exhumation of his body in view of the giving up of the relief granted by a single bench by the family before the Supreme Court. The High Court of JK and Ladakh has imposed Rs 10 Lakh as penalty on the administration for forcible takeover of land of a private person five years ago for construction of a bridge in Bandipora district of north Kashmir. Teenager drowns to death in Bandipora village

A teenage boy drowned to death in Wular Lake in Laharwalpora village of Bandipora district on Friday, officials said here. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the boy identified as Muzaffar drowned to death while he was trying to cross his cattle over a stream along the Wular Lake in Laharwalpora village. He said that three boys were trying to cross their cattle over to the stream that merges with Wular Lake when the incident took place. “All three boys drowned in the stream, however, two of them were saved, while Muzaffar got drowned,” he said. The official said that Muzaffar’s body was later retrieved by the efforts of locals and the police and was handed over to the family after medico-legal formalities—(KNO)

10 including 7 Army troopers die in Manipur landslide, 55 missing

The death count in the massive landslide at a railway construction site in Manipur's Noney district rose to 10 on Friday as two more bodies were recovered from the debris, officials said. The incident took place on Wednesday night at Tupul yard railway construction camp. Moreover, eight bodies were retrieved on Thursday, including those of seven Territorial Army personnel, from the incident site. According to news reports, search operations by the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, Territorial Army, National Disaster Response Force, and SDRF are underway as around 55 people are still missing. Chief Minister N Biren Singh had announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each for the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each for those injured.
