Divisional Commissioner Kashmir P K Pole on Wednesday said that Muharram processions will be allowed only on permitted routes, which have been already notified by the authorities. Talking to reporters at Budgam, Pole, as per the news agency Kashmir News Observer said that decisions regarding Muharram processions have been taken at the appropriate level. “Muharram processions will be allowed only on the already permitted routes. All the concerned have also been requested to hold processions through those routes only,” he added. With 501 deaths in a year, UP tops the list of custodial killings in India

With 501 deaths, Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest number of custodial killings for the second consecutive year among all states and Union Territories in India. The Indian Government's official data stated that 501 custodial deaths from April 2021 to March 2022. Other states which reported a high number of such incidents are Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Punjab, as per the data released by the government. A total of 2,544 custodial deaths were reported across 37 states and UTs from April 2021 to March 2022. There has been a significant rise in custodial deaths all over India, the data showed. The country reported 1,940 custodial deaths from April 2020 to March 2021.

A 15-year-old boy in Madaiya village in Kannauj who went to get admission in class IX was allegedly locked in a room and beaten to death by three teachers who accused him of ‘stealing’ a watch, on Tuesday, reported TOI. Bandipora man creates world record, writes entire Quran on 500 meter scroll

Mustafa-Ibn-Jameel, who is a resident of the Bandipora district in north Kashmir has created a world record by writing the Holy Quran on a 500-meter scroll. Mustafa-Ibn-Jameel, who is 27 years old took seven months to finish the writing and set this record. According to a news report, Mustafa initially started calligraphy to improve his handwriting and with time he wrote Quran on paper for 18 hours in a day. The Lincoln Book of Records has rewarded Mustafa and said he has written the Quran on 14.5 inches wide and 500 meters long paper. "While learning calligraphy, I used to make signature and write verses from Quran. Then I thought I should write the entire Quran," he said.
