A Hindu woman has said that she was “hired” by two Hindu men to frame the Muslim man in a “love jihad” case. Radha, on whose complaint a Muslim man was booked on rape charges in Uttar Pradesh’s Kasganj, has changed her statement and withdrawn her allegations against the accused, Prince Qureshi after she was told by a court that she needed to undergo a medical examination and that she might have to go to jail if her complaint was found to be false. Aman Chauhan and Akash Solanki had hired her to give false statements against Qureshi. Chauhan is said to be the district vice president of the BJP youth wing. Encounter breaks out in Kulgam area

Danishwar Hameed An ecounter has started between militants and Government forces in the Brayihard area of Kathpora in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Wednesday a joint group of RR,  CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police after receiving inputs about militant presence in Kathpora area of Kulgam, launched a cordon and search operation. The hiding militants opened fire on the troopers during the cordon, triggering an encounter. 2-3 militants are believed to be trapped in the area. As per locals, intermittent exchange of gunfire is going on at the site of the encounter. Details emerging.

Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Tuesday late night, one man identified as Khurshid Ahmed Shah, a resident of Trenz was critically wounded when he drove his vehicle bearing the number JK04 A 6096 into a wall, injuring himself. Khurshid was rescued by the locals and he is said to be stable.

Owais Yaqoob, 23, a resident of Murran village of Pulwama and Maroof Hilal from Frestbal Pampore have won bronze medals in their categories in the international martial arts championship held from 18-24th July in the Philippines. Police on Tuesday said that 12 Kgs of heroin worth Rs 24 crores in the international market and cash of Rs 11 lakhs were recovered by Jammu Police in Bahu Fort area of Jammu. Three peddlers were arrested in connection with the recovery, police said in a statement to GNS. “Initial investigation points towards drugs being drone dropped from across the border,” ADGP Jammu Mukesh Singh (IPS) was quoted as saying in the statement. “In a major success Jammu Police while working on a specific information has recovered 12 Kgs of heroin and cash approximately Rs 11 lakhs at a special naka established in the jurisdictions of PS Bahu Fort. Amarnath Yatra suspended due to heavy rains

Amarnath Yatra has been suspended between Panchtarni and the cave due to inclement weather, officials said on Tuesday. Heavy rainfall occurred in the mountains around the holy cave shrine this afternoon due to which water level in a nearby stream also rose, they said. The pilgrims were rushed back to Panchtarni camp, the officials said, adding that there are no reports of any loss of life or injuries or damage to property due to the rains.
