Srinagar: 4 including 3 non-locals arrested for theft

Four people including three non-locals were arrested in Srinagar's Batamaloo area for theft. Police on Tuesday said that three Non-Locals and 1 local thief were arrested for stealing from many places including a home at Sir Syedabad, near Iqbalabad, Batmaloo. "One CCTV footage had went viral 2 and during the investigation, four persons were identified who have been taken into detention," Police said. The Police identified the accused as Mohd Imran R/o Noorbagh, Saidullah Mirza R/o Ghaziabad, Mohd Aziz R/o Bengal and Mohd Kabir R/o Bengal.

Three militants on Lashkar-i-Toiba oufit were killed in a gunfight in Nagbal area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday. Officials sources told GNS that three militants of LeT were killed and their bodies were also recovered from the encounter site. Earlier a joint team of Police and army launched a cordon and search operation in the area. As the joint team of forces intensified searches towards the target spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, leading to an encounter.(GNS)

Shopian encounter: Two LeT militants killed, search on

Two militants affiliated with LeT were killed in a gunfight that broke out between militants and government forces at Nagbal village of Zainapora area in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, officials said on Tuesday. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a joint team of police, Army and CRPF after receiving information about the presence of militants launched search operation in the area. He said that as the joint team of forces intensified searches towards suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the party, which was retaliated, thus triggering an encounter. He said during exchange of fire, two militants were killed who were affiliated with LeT and further identification is being ascertained and search operation is underway in the area—(KNO)

At least seven people were killed and five others injured when a Tata sumo they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell into gorge in Kishtwar district on Tuesday, officials said. They said that the accident took place near Bunda Chatroo Changa when driver of the vehicle (JK17 -9117), a private taxi, lost control over it. Five people died on the spot while two others succumbed while be evacuated, they said. Five others were shifted to hospital by rescuers including locals, police and army, they said. The report — “Accidental Deaths and Suicides in India” — shows that daily wage earners remained the largest profession-wise group among suicide victims in 2021, accounting for 42,004 suicides (25.6 per cent). In 2020, too, daily wage earners accounted for the highest share, with 37,666 (24.6 per cent) of the 1,53,052 recorded suicides in the country.
