Farooq Abdullah placed under house arrest on 3rd anniversary of Abrogation

Member of Parliament and senior politician from Kashmir Dr. Farooq Abdullah has been placed under house arrest on Friday on the third anniversary of the Abrogation of special status, Jammu Kashmir National Conference said. The party said Dr. Farooq was arrested after he returned from National Conference headquarters Nawai-Subha where he had said that his party will peacefully fight for the rights illegally snatched on this day in 2019. “Dr Farooq Abdullah has been placed under house arrest after returning from Nawai-Subha where he had earlier presided over a meeting and said We will peacefully fight for our RIGHTS that were illegally, unconstitutionally and undemocratically snatched from us on August 5, 2019,” JKNC said in a tweet.

OIC expresses solidarity with Kashmiris, Demands restoration of Article 370

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation condemned the unilateral abrogation of the special status of Jammu Kashmir on Friday on the third anniversary of the decision. BSF Soldier Shoots Himself Dead In Ashmuqam Anantnag

A paramilitary BSF personnel allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself dead with his service rifle in Aishmuqam area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday. Official sources told GNS that a BSF soldier, Mitul Hazarika of Assam, who was deployed for Yatra duty at JNV Aishmuqam, ended his life by shooting himself dead by using his service rifle. The soldier’s body has been shifted to Sub District Hospital Seerhamdan Anantnag for medico-legal formalities, they said. A police official confirmed it to GNS and said that the cause of the suicide was being ascertained. (GNS)

Civilian injured during Kulgam encounter

A civilian and an Army man were injured in an encounter at Redwani area of Kulgam district on Friday. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a joint of team of Army, police and CRPF after receiving information about the presence of militants launched search operation in the area. He said that as the joint team of forces intensified searches towards suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the party, which was retaliated, thus triggering an encounter. He said that during the exchange of fire, one civilian and an Army man were injured, who have rushed to the hospital for treatment. He further added that after initial exchange of fire, no fresh contact was established with militants, however, the searches are going on in the area—(KNO)

Not returning bodies of militants to families an ‘effective method in checking recruitment,’ says DGP Dilbagh Singh

Kulgam gunfight: One army personnel injured, Operation continues

An Army trooper has been injured in an ongoing gunfight in Redwani area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Friday. A top police officer told GNS that a army personnel was injured in an ongoing anti-militancy operation in Redwani. He was immediately evacuated to nearby hospital, where his condition is said to be stable, the officer added. Earlier a joint team of Police and army launched a cordon and search operation in the Redwani area. ‘Sanatan Dharma’ to be included in AMU curriculum

After the Allahabad University decided to introduce courses in Hindu astrology and rituals, now the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) will include ‘Sanatan Dharma’, along with other religions, in its curriculum from the next academic session. The AMU is going to start a post-graduate course in comparative religion also. The university, so far, had been offering courses only in Islamic studies. AMU spokesperson M. Encounter breaks out in Kulgam area

Danishwar Hameed An encounter has started between militants and Government forces in the Redwani area of Quimoh in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Friday a joint group of  1 RR,  CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police after receiving inputs about militant presence in Redwani area of Kulgam, launched a cordon and search operation. The hiding militants opened fire on the troopers during the cordon, triggering an encounter. 2-3 militants are believed to be trapped in the area. As per locals, intermittent exchange of gunfire is going on at the site of the encounter. Details emerging.

Suspected militants attack non local labourers in Pulwama, one killed, two injured

Suspected militants on Thursday evening attacked non local labourers in the Pulwama district of South Kashmir. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that two three non local labourers were injured when suspected militants hurled a grenade on them in the Gadoora area of Pulwama. The injured labourers were rushed to the hospital, where one of them succumbed to his injuries. "#Terrorists hurled grenade on outside labourers at Gadoora area of #Pulwama.
