Found involved in supplying drugs; Police direct vendors not to install carts in Sopore market

  Citing reasons found involved in supplying drugs in the town, Police in North Kashmir's apple town directed the street vendors not to install their carts/stalls in the market. According to the sources, street vendors in the town were removed on Tuesday by the Police and have been further directed not to install their carts at Iqbal market area of the town. Station House Officer (SHO) Sopore, Khalid Fayaz when contacted, told KNS that they have directed the cart vendors to not install their carts, as they are involved in supplying drugs within the town. Scores of the employees from Centaur Hotel on Monday staged a protest against what they termed as the ‘polarization of the employees’, saying that the eviction order issued by the government on June 14 was aimed at eliminating the staff. Admin to provide 93,000 flags in Ladakh for ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign

At least 93,000 flags will be availed by the administration in the Ladakh division, which was separated from Jammu Kashmir after the unilateral abrogation of Article 370 on August 05, 2019. Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, in this regard, chaired a meeting to review and discuss preparations for the same. The flags are being availed as a part of the "celebrations" of the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' event. In Kashmir, 24 human lives lost, 956 structures damaged due to fire incidents in first half of 2022

In the first half of the current year, 24 persons have been killed in different fire incidents across Kashmir Valley. Five persons also sustained injuries in these incidents. Divulging information about the conflagration incidents across Kashmir Valley, an official from Fire and Emergency Services Department informed news agency Kashmir News Trust that 956 structures were damaged in different fire incidents from January to June this year. These include 160 shops and 14 shopping complexes as well. The official added that 20 vehicles and 73 electric transformers were damaged in the fire incidents also. Nearly 200 under-trial prisoners have been identified in Jammu Kashmir for release on bail as part of the campaign launched on the 75th year of independence of the country and in order to unclog the prisons, Daily Excelsior reported. The orders in this regard will be passed by the respective Principal District and Sessions Judges before August 13. Ten policemen have been killed so far this year in different militancy-related incidents in Kashmir Valley. Three cops have been killed in different encounters between militants and joint forces while a cop has lost his life in a grenade attack. On Monday, India Today reported that Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) managing committee has decided "to remove the books of Pakistani authors Maulana Abul Ala Maududi and Syed Qutub from the syllabus."
