Trooper on way to Kashmir detained with bullets at Delhi Airport

A trooper posted in Kashmir Valley was apprehended by Airport authorities in New Delhi before boarding the flight. Sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that CISF personnel recovered four 9MM live rounds from the luggage of a trooper at Indira Gandhi International Airport. The trooper was about to board a Srinagar-bound plane before the recovery of four bullets in his language. He has been identified as Anuj Pathak affiliated with 161 Battalion CRPF. Sources added that the said trooper has been taken into custody for questioning. Pertinently, a couple of troopers were taken into custody for the same reason at Srinagar Airport in the recent past. Owing to fresh landslides at multiple locations due to incessant rains, the Srinagar-Leh highway has been closed by the officials. The highway which connects Srinagar and Leh was closed for vehicular movement due to fresh landslides that were triggered by heavy rains in Chine Nallah, Bajri Nallah, Pagal Nallah, Pani Metha and other locations in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. An official confirmed to news agency Kashmir News Trust that highway was closed during the intervening night after the fresh landslides at multiple locations in Zojila. Dozens of houses and shops were damaged in flash floods, triggered by heavy rainfall at Surankote area of Poonch. The flash flood hit parts of town in the intervening night of Sunday-Monday. As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), heavy rainfall occured in the region late Sunday evening, resulting in flash flood. Locals said that there are scenes of destruction everywhere with dozens of houses and shops suffered damage due to water flow and stones that were flowing in water while traders have suffered loss worth lakhs of rupees as the commodities got washed away in the flood. At least fourteen shops and a seminary sustained damage in two fire incidents, last night, in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, official sources said. They told GNS that a fire broke at Khah Bazar Anantnag which involved a three-storeyed building, by the name ‘Shiekh Complex’ belonging to one Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Sheikh. In the incident, they said, fourteen shops sustained damage before fire tenders doused off the flames. The enormity of damage to the stuff inside the shops is being ascertained, the sources said. Rains continued to lash Jammu Kashmir, causing waterlogging in many areas, even as the weatherman on Monday forecast more spells and thundershowers in next 24 hours. The rains also brought down minimum temperature to below normal at most places with world famous Gulmarg resort recording a low of 8.6°C against 11.0°C on previous night and it was 3.9°C ‘below’ normal for the north Kashmir place. Reports said that spells of rain and thunderstorms caused waterlogging at several places, more so in low-lying areas of Srinagar and elsewhere.
