A court in Jammu on Wednesday issued a production warrant against Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Muhammad Yasin Malik, directing the Tihar jail authorities to produce him physically before it on the next date of hearing in Rubaiya Sayeed abduction case. Talking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), advocate Monika Kohli, CBI counsel in the case, said  the TADA court has issued a production warrant against Malik and directed the Tihar jail authorities to produce him before it on the next date of the hearing “The next date of hearing is scheduled on October 20,” she said. Teenager arrested for sodomising 4-year-old boy in Budgam

In a shocking incident, a teenager was arrested in Khag area of Central Kashmir's Budgam district on Wednesday for sodomising a minor boy, officials said here. An official told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the teenager had sodomised a 4-year-old boy in Khag. He said that soon after receiving information about the same, police swung into action and arrested the teenager. ‘Disappearance’ of local woman sparks protest in Budgam

The mysterious disappearance of a woman sparked a protest in Narbal area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district today. According to reports a 40-year old woman identified as Aisha Akhtar wife of Showkat Ahmed Bhat of Narbal had gone to SMHS Hospital Srinagar to inquire the health of a patient on yesterday morning and since then she is untraceable. “We tried to call her but her cell-phone is powered off,” one of the family members told news agency Kashmir News Trust. The family members and locals today blocked the road demanding to trace the ‘missing’ woman. Police rushed to the spot and informed the protesters that a case has already been registered and efforts are on to trace the missing woman. (KNT)

Man sustains critical injuries in bear attack

In yet another incident of man-animal conflict, a bear critically injured a man in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district. Official sources said that a wild bear who had entered into Panar village of Bandipora mauled a man identified as Nazir Ahmad Bania son of Babu Bania, a resident of the same hamlet. The victim was somehow rescued by locals and shifted to District Hospital Banipora with critical injuries. A couple of days ago a leopard had mauled a little girl to death in North Kashmir’s Uri. SSB jawan falls off building in Srinagar, dies

A Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) jawan died after falling off a building in Pandrethan area of Srinagar, officials said here on Wednesday. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that constable Anuj Kumar of 151 Battalion, A/coy SSB fell from the building at Geology and Mining department in Pandrethan. He said that the constable was shifted to hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident—(KNO)

Militancy case: SIA raids multiple residences in J-K

State Investigation Agency (SIA) on Wednesday raided multiple residences in Kashmir valley in a case FIR no 4/2022 registered at SIA Jammu. Sources told news agency Kashmir Dot Com that sleuths of the investigating agency with the assistance of the local police and the CRPF carried out multiple raids in the union territory in an already registered case. In Kulgam, the sleuths of state agency raided the residence of arrested cop identified as Head Constable Mohammad Ramzan Reshi @ Rizwan son of Abdul Majid near DPO Kulgam. Earlier Rizwan was arrested by SIA Jammu. SIA, Jammu raided the house of Abu Bakar, S/o Akhtar Hussain resident of Vidhata Nagar, Bathindi, Jammu.
