Decade on, Shopian’s Animal Husbandry centre awaits completion

After 10 years, building of a vital animal husbandry centre in upper belt of Shopian is incomplete causing inconvenience to people. Locals from Zawoora village of Shopian told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that authorities after repeated requests started construction of the Veterinary Centre in 2012 but since then they are waiting for its completion. Shakeel Khan, a local, said that the under-construction building was abandoned by the concerned authorities. He said that one storey of the centre was completed in 2013 and then work stopped only to be started again for construction of second storey two years ago. Since then, it remains abandoned again. A Jungle Smuggler died while cutting a tree illegally in Cental Kashmir’s Budgam forest area while police have launched a hunt to nab the accomplices of the deceased smuggler. Reports said that a group of jungle smugglers were illegally cutting down a pine tree in the Kanidajan forest area. One of the smugglers identified as Rafiq Khokhar (33) son of Habibullah Khokhar of Kokar Bagh area of Khag Budgam came under the tree that he was cutting. Amid claims by students of B A LLB 10th semester that examination paper of ‘Child Law and Juvenile Justice” was out of syllabus, Kashmir University on Saturday said genuineness of the claims would be ascertained by an expert committee in a time-bound manner. “Some examinees of B A LLB 10th semester have claimed that their examination paper of "Child Law and Juvenile Justice" which was held on September 24, 2022 was allegedly out of syllabus. At least four persons including three sisters died after drowning in a Nallah at Chetredi village of Tehsil Ramnagar in Udhampur district on Friday, an official said. In the year of 2021, One hundred thirty six (136) cases of murder were registered in Jammu Kashmir with 164 victims, among which the motive behind 10 cases was love affairs, NCRB data reveals. According to the National Crime Records Bureau, Union Territory of Jammu Kashmir has registered 119 murder cases in the year 2019 and 149 cases in 2020. While in 2021 year, the 136 murder cases were registered. It says the rate of murder in 2021 was 1.0 and the charge sheeting rate was 79.9.
