IAF officers’ killing: Yasin Malik seeks physical appearance, case listed for 19 October

The case of the killing of four IAF personnel involving Mohammed Yasin Malik was heard on Tuesday. As per news reports, All accused including Yasin Malik were present virtually in the case from the year 1990. Yasin demanded he demanded a physical hearing and mailed the same to the court, Monika Kohli, CBI lawyer said. The court has heard his plea and said that it will cross-examine the witnesses after being present personally. The final order on the same is yet to come. The next date of hearing is 19th October, said Monika Kohli, CBI lawyer.

Months after being reinstated, Shah Faesal withdraws petition challenging Article 370 abrogation

IAS officer Shah Faesal has withdrawn his petition from the Supreme Court challenging the Presidential order to scrap Article 370, which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir, Bar & Bench reported. Faesal was among 23 petitioners who had challenged the Centre’s decision to abrogate provisions of Article 370. Shah Faesal’s decision to withdraw the petition comes months after he was taken back into the Indian Administrative Service in April this year and appointed Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Culture. Faesal resigned from service in protest in 2019 to float his own political party in Jammu and Kashmir. However, his resignation had never been accepted by the government and he withdrew it later. Over 2000 cases of lumpy disease have been reported in Kashmir so far and over 60 percent of the affected animals have recovered. Director Animal Husbandry Kashmir Purnima Mithal told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that 2,112 cases of lumpy disease have been reported in Kashmir so far. She said that department has already started vaccination process and around 65 percent of the affected cattle have already recovered. According to her, about 89 cattle suffering from the disease have died so far in Kashmir and situation is very much under control. Body of a 35-year-old non-local labourer was found hanging to a tree near his accommodation in Sunderbani area of Rajouri district on Tuesday, officials said. They identified the deceased as Ramashri son of Sonalal of Panna, Madhya Pradesh. Ramashri was putting up in Juggi area of Sunderbani and other laborers residing in the vicinity informed police about the incident, they said. “A police party rushed to the spot and shifted him to Sub District Hospital Sunderbani where doctors declared him brought dead,” the officials told GNS. In the first case of conviction under the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act, 2021, a court in Amroha has served a five-year jail term to a 26-year-old carpenter. Additional Director General of Police, Prosecution, Ashutosh Pandey, confirmed that since the introduction of the new law in December 2021, the conviction by the Amroha court was the first under the new law. Amroha Additional District Judge (POCSO court), Kapila Raghav on Saturday announced a jail term of five years for Afzal and imposed a penalty of Rs 40,000.
