Saudi Arabian King appoints Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman as PM

Saudi Arabian King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has appointed Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman as the kingdom's Prime Minister, Saudi Press Agency reported, citing a royal decree. The king meanwhile issued a decree on Tuesday ordering a cabinet reshuffle, appointing Saudi Prince Khalid bin Salman as the Defence Minister, Xinhua news agency reported. Heads of ministries that were kept unchanged include the Energy Minister, the Foreign Affairs Minister, the Investment Minister, the Interior Minister, and the Finance Minister.(IANS)

After repeated court directions, Indian Army vacates land belonging to two brothers in north Kashmir

The Indian Army vacated the four houses and adjacent land of two brothers after 19 years in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district. The occupied houses and land were handed over by Army to the proprietors after repeated directions from Jammu Kashmir High Court. In 2003, soldiers from 14 Rashtriya Rifles Unit occupied 4 houses and the adjacent land comprising 23 kanals and 7 marlas at Bothu village of North Kashmir’s Bandipora. The property belonged to two brothers – Ghulam Nabi Reshi and Ghulam Rasool Reshi. Both the brothers entered into a rent agreement with the army for a period of 7 years which ended in 2010. A pall of gloom descended on Dooru village in Sopore of Baramulla district after a news announcing death of a famous lecturer, Qawam-ud-din Shah, broke out this morning. One among the two UP labourers injured while working on under construction bridge in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district succumbed to his injuries in Srinagar hospital. On 24 September, two non-local labourers namely Shah Mir son of Samad Abasi and Gulraiz Abbasi son of Wajid Abasi, residents of Shahpora Uttar Pradesh sustained injuries after both fell down while working on an under-construction bridge at Wayil, falling under the jurisdiction of police station Ganderbal. The Saudi Arabia Government has planned to launch Saudi Idol, a new version of the international ‘Idol’ televised talent show franchise. The show will be aired before the end of the year, Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) Turki al-Sheikh announced Saturday, Al Arabiya reported. With the filming scheduled to begin next month, the new show will be launched in collaboration with Saudi Arabia’s GEA and MBC Group, and the first episode will air in December this year. According to the report, the new show seeks to hunt for Saudi talent and will feature a star-studded jury that will include singers Aseel Abu Bakr, Ahlam, Asala and Majid al-Mohandes.

The Jammu Kashmir Police in Kishtwar district solved a kidnapping case of a minor boy within hours and also arrested a woman, while locals expressed gratitude to the police for solving the case and recovering the minor child.
