Mercury rises slightly in JK but hovers below normal at several places

Weather department has forecast mainly dry weather in Jamm Kashmir even as night temperatures recorded a slight improvement in the Valley but hovered below normal in some places on Saturday. A meteorological department official here told GNS that while dry weather was expected to continue till October 17, light to moderate rain or snowfall (over higher reaches) was very likely during 18-20th in JK with main activity on October 19th (60-70% chance). Regarding minimum temperature, he said, Srinagar recorded a low of 6.6°C against 6.4°C on the previous night. Shabir Khan  The Government forces on Saturday morning found an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in north Kashmir. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that suspected militant had planted an 18 kilogram IED on the Bandipora—Sopore road near Ashtangoo. They said that on Sunday morning a road opening party of the Government for es detected IED in the area after which vehicular movement was barred on the road. A CRPF man died of cardiac arrest in Lethpora area of Pampore in south Kashmir's Pulwama district. An official told The Kashmiriyat that a CRPF man identified as Kuldeep Singh, who was a sub-inspector posted at RTC 4 Lethpora, Pulwama, complained of breathing difficulty around midnight and was rushed to SMHS Hospital in Srinagar. However, the doctors declared him brought dead on arrival. The Jammu Kashmir Police have registered a case and started an investigation in this regard. The State Investigation Agency (SIA) of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday filed a chargesheet against a digital magazine editor and a PhD scholar in a “narrative terrorism” case here. Accused Peerzaada Fahad Shah, editor of monthly online magazine ‘Kashmirwalla’ and a resident of Srinagar, and Aala Fazili of Budgam have been booked under the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the SIA said in a statement here.
