IUST professor awarded ‘Young Scientist and Technologist’ award

An assistant professor from the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) has been awarded the Young Scientist and Technologist award by the Government of India. Dr Hilal A Makroo who is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Food Technology in IUST Kashmir will receive the award from the Government of India's Department of Science and Technology. His research on "Ohmic heating based new aseptic and continuous processing of viscous food products for shelf-life enhancement" has been given the award under the heading "Socio-economic Development and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)" Dr. Makroo's research team is on finding new uses for minor fruits and vegetables, byproducts, and food waste.

Army trooper injured in Baramulla encounter succumbs

An Indian army trooper who was injured in an encounter between militants and security forces in Wanseeran Taripora area in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district succumbed to injuries on Thursday. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Wednesday joint team of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation following specific information about the presence of militants in the area. They said that militants fired upon forces which was retaliated, triggering an encounter during which one Army trooper was wounded. ‘Unliteral actions should be avoided’, China demands resolution of Kashmir issue

Explosive material packed in two boxes was recovered in a taxi stand at Jammu Railway station on Thursday. An official told news wire Kashmir News Apex-(KAN) that We have recovered a bag near the taxi stand at Jammu Railway Station. He said that explosive materials packed in 2 boxes were found in the bag. The News Broadcasting & Digital Standards Authority (NBDSA), a self-regulatory agency set up by news and digital broadcasters, has pulled up News18 India for turning a news debate on hijab into a “communal issue” and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the channel for not adhering to guidelines. The NBDSA also directed the channel to remove the video of the program from its website and all platforms.
