The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has braced up to stay prepared ahead of winter with officials saying that the works like upgradation of transmission lines, branch cutting, and others are going on to ensure a better power scenario in the chilly weather. Ahead of the winter, Chief Engineer, KPDCL, Er Javed Yousuf Dar told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that there has been no new power schedule, but would likely be issued after November 10 onwards. He, however, said that some mandatory works ahead of the winter have been started like the upgradation of transmission lines, branch cuttings and other line work. “These works would be completed before November 15 and the new power schedule will be announced accordingly,” he said—(KNO)

Danishwar Hameed A 33-year-old woman was found hanging at her  home in Bugam area in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat on Monday morning a woman (name withheld) who is mother of three, was found hanging at her house. They said that the woman was rushed to the district hospital, Kulgam where she was declared brought dead on arrival. The body will be added over to the legal heirs after the completion of Medico Legal formalities. A case has been registered in this regard and further investigations has been taken up.

Investment projects worth Rs 10,000 crore are under execution in Jammu and Kashmir while proposals to the tune of Rs 60,000 crore are being processed, which reflects the successful campaign of the Union Territory government to attract investors, an official said. "Since Independence, Jammu and Kashmir had received private investments to the tune of Rs 14,000 crore only. However, after the introduction of new Industrial Development Scheme and personal interest taken by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the UT has received investment proposals worth Rs 56,000 crore in just about one year time," the official spokesman said on Sunday. A massive fire broke out in Chadoora area of Budgam on Sunday evening. A police official told Kashmir News Apex-(KNA) that Fire broke out in a shopping complex at Chadoora market opposite Tehsil office around 17: 30 hrs. He said that 05 tenders were rushed in and fire men along with police and magistrate on spot controlled the fire by 18: 45 hrs, however fire engulfed some structures and 02 shops in the upper storey of the complex. He said that no loss of life or injuries were reported while as cause of fire is being ascertained. An elderly woman was killed in a road accident that took place in Sangrama area of North Kashmir's Baramulla district on Sunday even as the driver of the vehicle has been arrested. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that the woman was killed after being hit by a speedy bus in Sangrama area. He identified the deceased as Saja Begum (75) wife of Abdul Kabeer of Pethseer village of Sopore. “After completion of legal medical formalities, the body was handed over to the family while a case in this regard has been registered,” the official said. Authorities in Jammu Kashmir during 2021-22 have utilized ‘only three percent’ of the funds allocated by the central government on account of erstwhile Mid May Meal Scheme (MDM) scheme.
